TomVH did NOT get laid off. FYI...
Correct. He did survive. But was the only one to survive on the recruiting staff. I was wrong earlier. Got bad info in the heat of things. Apologies.
Chantel is one of the my favorite Reggie Cleveland All-Stars and a class act. The BTN would be wise to hire her.
Kind of sucks to give an on the spot layoff announcement. I've always been in the practice of giving at least 2 months notice so they can be prepared to go out and look for something else. Good luck to her.

before security walks you out. That's just how it goes.

Bummer to hear this. As anyone who's ever worked in large mega-corporation can attest, it always seems like it's the quality co-workers you enjoy having around the office are the ones who are let go and the pot-stirrers and prima donnas seem to hold on like cockroaches.

And that's why I quit BigLaw. You'd think management would want the best performers to sell but in fact they actually keep the lackies around for their own self-interests. What is taught in the classroom is not at all what is practiced in the c-level and board rooms. Not even.
This is true. Actually, it is certain clients who suffer most from these practices-- the ones the lackeys end up servicing. They would be better-served by, you know, the best actual lawyers who came through the firm. In time, however, the hacks/lackeys are exposed; it is a competetive industry, after all.
Ms. Jennings is talented and always has been. I realize this may sound highly improbable, but if there is any way MGo could get her involved as a contributor in some way, I think it would be an asset to the site. Given that the market is now flooded with sports journalists because of these layoffs, it would seem to be a buyer's market if you are a blog looking to hire.
Best of luck to her.
Are you hiring, Brian?
