I'd bet money that McCaffrey could play defense just as well as Peppers can play offense. That kid's athleticism is measured on the same scale as Peppers', and he has that football knack for not only finding the right place, but to also be there at the right time. Kid is good, and would have won the Heisman last year if any PAC-12 games had been played in East Coast prime time.
It is easier to start at the top instead of working your way up. Being in the conversation this early only helps his case.

We forget one thing: people LOVE traditions and records (see the Olympics). If Peppers gains steam early on, people will start talking about him following in Woodson's footsteps as a primarily defensive player competing for the Heisman. Once that happens, jump aboard the hype train!!!!
