Summer questions
The Denard placing 3rd thread got me excited that he and the other freshman will be arriving in less than a month.
Anyone on here have extensive knowledge regarding practice during the summer? obviously they are going through S&C and i assume this is under the supervision of barwis/staff. are players allowed to use a ball at all? without coaches? not until august?
any info is greatly appreciated. i hate myself for starting to follow the program this close during the spring...september cannot get here fast enough. (insert lame tate/denard speed quip here)
The players can do whatever they want without coaches. They'll also be going through the S&C program. I assume they can look at film on their own (or maybe even with coaches, a limited amount of the time), and they'll start up fall practice in August or maybe even late July (the season starts late this year, so probably August) with a couple NCAA-mandated conditioning sessions without pads, then get into full practices.
...don't you email one of the coaches, or the SID? I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you (this is a serious response)....
If you actually get a reply out of such an email, I would be very interested to hear what they say, and I'm sure others would as well.
He is human
set two state records that meet. denard was so impressed that he said he was proud of the kid
... at least he has football to fall back on.
The rules for summer football are at this link starting on page 243.

For complete understanding, however, the entire manual should be read at least twice.
I'd imagine they'd be able to do some sort of "individual" workouts with coaches. This would be limited to something like 3 hrs/week. I know for baseball this is true, so I gotta imagine for football, they'd be allowed some sort of workout with the coaches.
Looks like it is 8 hrs/week of conditioning, lifting, and individual workouts combined.
That is a good series of questions. My question though is what do we do with all of this time between now and the start of fall prctice. I mean can we really keep reading the same D Rob is really fast articles. I love this time of year for the ability to do things outside, like camping, and fishing, campfires, and all of the other things that we can do in the summer but really I'd give it all up for a couple more months of UM football. I feel like I just need a fix to get me by.
