Some stats on our rival from Jersey

Submitted by Maize in Cincy on

Rutgers had a great start to the year only losing to Washington by 35 and then picking up huge wins against Howard and New Mexico.  Everyone was very worried on here that Rutgers was going to dominate in B1G play.

Unfortunately for them that didn't happen.  Against the B1G East (we will exclude Indiana and the upcoming game against Maryland since those schools only care about basketball) they put up the following numbers.

In 4 games:

Outscored 224-0

Total first downs: 24 (1.5 per quarter)

Total yards: 391 (24 per quarter)

Total Punts: 47

Total Punt Yards: 1729

We've been very fortunate to see this type of historic play.  Just think, a punter outgained his offense  4.4 yards to 1 for a total of 16 quarters.

Total turnovers for these 4 games were even 3 to 3.  That's usually a decent predictor of success so the 224-0 score was probabably just variance. Look for them to bounce back next season.

The hiring of Ash was profound he's def got them turned in the right direction...hope he has a long career in Jersey.

He's probably going to need a new contractor to help with that wall though.

it's actually pretty pathetic how much we talk about that football team on this blog.  we have a great football team in national championship contention, it's not like we don't have plenty to talk about without bashing rutgers. . .
