So what was the deal with Kellen Jones? and how'd he do?
did any work get out on what happened with Kellen Jones? This was a kid whose whole family stood and sang The Victors when he committed......was supposed to be enough of a stud LB to play right away, then poof!
We know he "turned up" at Oklahoma, and they had some defensive problems of their own.
Is he still there, did he play, anybody have any actual word?

Not sure, if he had to redshirt, but I could have swore he was on the special teams and the guy mention his name.
January 19th, 2012 at 7:50 PM ^
According to soonersports.com, he had 10 tackles - 3 unassisted, 10 assisted.
I think most of his play time was on special teams, but don't quote me on that.

3 unassisted + 10 assisted =/= 10 tackles

And to think I was an accountant.
It's 3 and 7. Worse things have been done.

I went to the OU game against Ball State this past season. He played a lot that day on defense....blah blah Ball State OU plays backups, but Kellen was running with the 1's most of the game. I was keeping a pretty close eye on him the whole game, and he LOOKED (physcally) like Kenny Demens. I remember being surprised because his size coming out of high school was a (minor?) concern. Anyway, IIRC he came away with a few defensive tackles that day.
Remember that OU's star linebacker Austin Box tragically died leading up to the season, so that (unfortunately) probably pushed Kellen into some playing time.

im pretty sure he signed a LOI for Michigan, so he had to sit out a year.
January 20th, 2012 at 7:32 AM ^
from his LOI similar to what USC did with Henderson so he didn't have to sit out.
January 20th, 2012 at 8:05 AM ^
Yep. He played a fair amount this year, including the bowl game against Iowa.
Just because a kid signs a NLI doesn't mean he can't play somewhere else that season. If he leaves prior to the season beginning, he can still go elsewhere and play if he's released by the school.
January 20th, 2012 at 11:28 AM ^
To add, if he signs a letter of intent with a school but does not enroll in that particular school, and enrolls somewhere else, he does not have to sit out.

because of domestic abuse issues/charges. Possibly sexually abused a girl and Hoke showed him the door.
January 19th, 2012 at 10:21 PM ^
There were some charges, but I wouldn't go that far. A lot of crap went down, others were involved, and I've been told that there are several conflicting accounts of the incident.
I know that's kind of vague, and I apologize. Maybe the story will be told someday, but it's not mine to tell. I just want to make it clear that any speculation about the situation is going to be unfair, so we should probably abstain from that.

I thought he had concussion problems before he left for OU.

While we're on the subject, what's the deal with airline food?
January 19th, 2012 at 9:37 PM ^
Yeah, and chicken mcnuggets. What part of the chicken is that?
January 19th, 2012 at 10:07 PM ^
Mc Nuget part
January 20th, 2012 at 12:41 AM ^
A Scotch hardware part.
January 20th, 2012 at 6:48 AM ^
Scotch Wiskey?
January 20th, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
Generally, Scotch whisky is spelled without the "e".
January 20th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
as in your reply.

The airlines provide food?

I WANT TO KNOW WHY ROBOTS HAVE BEEN STEALING MY LUGGAGE AT THE AIRPORT.
(While we're on the subject, that is.)
January 19th, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
I want to know why my key chain needs to have it's own area code? Do I really need to have your stupid card to swipe just to get your "low" price? I am going to throw my back out at this rate. While I am at it, is there a need to have 25 registers if only 5 are ever open? It just pisses me off even further that there is a possibility that it doesn't have to be such a cluster fuck at the check out. AHHHHH

More cashiers is worse for the bottom line. Efficiency is irrelevant. Profit is king in the supermarket industry because the profit margins are so thin. 2-3% is the margin I always heard about at [generic supermarket job].

What is with the people that stare at you from their car when you are driving? Sometimes its at an intersection when I'm turning or maybe when it is a slow speed area and we are passing each other on the road. I mean I know technically you need to kinda be staring back at them to notice them holding their line of sight for so long, but normally you notice it after realizing they are giving you the death stare. And clearly these people don't know you. You don't look particularly ugly or weird, but they are giving you the ultimate stare down like you just slept with their mother. Wtf is with that?
January 20th, 2012 at 9:03 AM ^
Maybe they are trying to scan you...Cronenberg reference.
January 20th, 2012 at 1:33 AM ^
I get that too. D(r)iving forward to the imaginary yellow line for a first down in a car can yeild that reactiont.

One of the interesting things about the case of Kellen Jones is that he was considered by many to be a player who might be a leader coming to Michigan. He had solid grades and there was some discussion on message boards that he might eventually be captain material. There are some recruits you expect to run into trouble or at least that wouldn't surprise...but I think this one caught people off guard.
January 20th, 2012 at 11:39 AM ^
Whatever went down was severe enough for Hoke to drop him but not too big a deal for another major program to pick him up immediately.
Are we the only ones with standards and willing to draw a line?
January 20th, 2012 at 11:56 AM ^
I dunno...Darryl Stonum was allowed to stay on the team after his multiple transgressions. And he wasn't punished a bit.
January 20th, 2012 at 12:21 PM ^
You mean other than being suspended for a year, then thrown off the team?
Or are you referring to something different?
January 20th, 2012 at 12:24 PM ^
Did I forget the /s again?
January 20th, 2012 at 1:20 PM ^
When the prior post seems to be playing devil's advocate a little with the Jones situation. (Which is a fair position...just the juxtaposition probably didn't help the translation).
January 20th, 2012 at 12:28 PM ^
...was forced to sit out a year and lost his scholarship.
I wouldn't call that avoiding punishment.
