Rocco Spindler trending to ND

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on April 26th, 2020 at 3:51 PM

With recent crystal balls trending to Notre Dame for Spindler, how is Michigan going to keep up with Ohio State when they can't even keep the best players in Michigan going to Michigan? Notre Dame isn't using bagmen. If Harbaugh misses on Edwards, Michigan will only have 1 of the top 5 recruits in the state.

Sam Webb mentioned that if he prolongs his announcement past his original May deadline, then Michigan will have a better chance. But yeah, I think he's going to ND.

I can’t understand why the hell Rocco would go to ND. Kelly is a complete dickhead. Also, Warriner is one of the best OL coaches in the country.

WTF Is going on with recruiting in general?  I don’t get the no DT approach at all. I don’t get why we are taking two flyers from kids this early. I do like the kid from Aquinas though.

You don’t like Kelly as a Michigan fan, but other coaches & players like him a lot.

As for OL coaches & resumes. You have to remember 3 of the 5 OL All Pro first team is made up of ND players (Nelson, Stanley, Martin). Then PFF added the other Martin & McGlunchey to those three and called it the best OL in the NFL. ND also has four OL that will be drafted next year, and seven more that are 4 or 5 Stars. ND is considered elite among OL play.
But to get more specific, Spindler has struck a relationship with Quenton Nelson. ND has recruited Spindler explaining to him he plays the same position as Nelson (LG) & they play the same way. Spindler wants to be the next Nelson.

This Burns11 tool and other like him/her are making this site unbearable.  I don't understand how some people can be so entertained by being obnoxious and how otherwise rational people will waste time arguing with someone like him/her.  I'll check back some time in the future, hopefully the site will be cleaned up, because I enjoy getting information and commentary about Michigan sports.

That’s the Michigan fan way of looking at it.

ND currently has 3 of the 5 First Team All Pro Offensive Lineman (Nelson, Stanley, Martin). And two more pro bowlers. ND will have 4 OL drafted next year.
ND & UM are 1-1 the last three years. ND went 33-6 with a CFP appearance & two bowl wins. Michigan went 27-12, no CFP & 0-3 in Bowls.

Kids being recruited don’t put much stock in one game as fans do. If so, Purdue would be out-recruiting OSU.

If people want to be honest about recruiting, they need to remove the fandom tinted glasses. Calling him stupid when you seem to be the uneducated one doesn’t help either...

1. I hope that all of you who criticize Michigan’s recruiters piss excellence in your own jobs - because you must be damn perfect.

2. I also hope the strain of an entire lost season due to the pandemic doesn’t make you lose it completely - you might want to prep for that eventuality, though.  Because the only meaningful crystal balls I’m tracking right now concern COVID-19 and 20.

Michigan recruiting has fallen off.  It’s not hard to see. You can’t count on recruiting and develop 3*’s into 5’*s at every position. Forget about beating OSU for now - ain’t happening.  Focus on being consistent against PSU and Wisconsin.

The thing with OSU nailing it in recruiting...all these 5 star players and our lack of them.

When it gets so lopsided, the thing to do is punk them and go after the same players they are and sell playing time.... you'll snag many of them if done right, because many players don't want to sit and with four five stars ahead of them vs three stars here, it sells itself.

And this is especially important instate Ohio..everything went awry here when Tressel was able to shut the state out..that effort wasn't met on our side...  during the last half of Carr's time it started, and then with RR it ended completely.. ...  the one thing Hoke did great was to attack Ohio like none other, and he got many top players.   Harbaugh isn't doing the same thing at all....granted it was vs Meyer but still.

Cmon, we’re not going to punk OSU by selling playing time.  Chase Young sat as a freshman behind Bosa, started his sophomore year and went to the NFL after his Jr year.   A kid thinking he is going to play as a Fr isn’t going to half enough sway to make any measurable difference.

Recruiting is about momentum.  We need to lock down the instate kids and find a way to get to Indy in order to get over the jump and get back to top 5 classes.   A new coach brings in that momentum but you get a 2 year lift, 3 if your lucky.  After that results in the field have to keep it going.

Michigan fans when they hear bad news:  attack Maizen and cry fake news.

Meanwhile, Harbaugh continues to attack each day with a mediocrity unknown to mankind.
