OT: WDFN is No More
For those of you that don't know yet, Sports Radio 1130 WDFN has fired the on air staff and has gone all syndicated national sports talk. Clear Channel is in the process of cutting and slashing alot of its stations around the country. WDFN becamse a victim this afternoon.

I liked Baligian and Stoney & Wojo.

Stoney and Wojo were the best.

Both of those two are good, and while apart from College Football I'm more of a national guy, it's nice to have the Detroit perspective for big news. I'm not a huge fan of the ticket.

About the only radio I missed from Detroit was Stoney & Wojo - I hope they land on their feet. Sure, they weren't perfect, but they felt a great deal more "real" and connected to the area than most of the stuff played on the local sports stations.

to WBBL. I can't stand The Huge Show and Whitecaps baseball.

I don't remember people being too unhappy when Huge left Chicago. Nor people being unhappy when he talked shit to the wrong people after a Sox game and got his ass beat on his way back from Jimbo's.

Haha, I love listening to Huge and his ridiculous comments. He has absolutely no clue what he is talking about more than half the time and I love hearing his shows after he makes some stupid prediction.

I always loved getting a scratchy reception of Huge in EL, hearing about Brandt's Steak House in GR and hearing him crow about his "syndicated" radio show that, it seemed, only played in Mich. and the backwoods of Tenn. After trying to learn hundreds of pages of binding precedents and statutes, listening to this goober ramble on was a welcome reprieve.

It seems like he always interviews either Izzo or anyone from CMU.

that the Carr and Amaker staffs blackballed him because he wasn't cheerleading enough. But he does have more interviews now with RR and Beilein than he ever had with their predecessors.
CMU and MSU are his bread and butter though.

I've been planning on moving back to Mich for family reasons, but it seems something new pops up every other day to make me think twice. The big 3 is dying. They stopped printing newspapers everyday. Now, they're axing local radio.
I used to listen to WDFN all the time when I lived in Mich. That's too bad.

Three hours in office and my life is already worse.

CO-SIGNED TO THE MAX. I friggin' HATE Simonson and all his product pimping. Every five seconds he's forcing some sponsor down your throat, it's absolutely pathetic. I can't believe people listen to that shit and actually like it. If he's not pimping that one accounting firm or Brann's Steakhouse or 5/3 Bank or that movie theater with the "HUGE COMBO" or whatever idiot sponsor he has, he's blathering on like an idiot about subjects he knows nothing about, or he's yelling at his show producer, Mulder (I think?).
Also, doesn't WBBL broadcast Jim Rome as well? That's another coward (not to be confused with Cowherd, yet another coward) whose face I'd love to smash with a 2x4.
Balls.

I happen to have been introduced to Cole's Quality foods and Sports Wax and Say Howers frozen foods or whatever it was called through Huge.

Don't forget Miller Lite, Southland Auto Wash, and Arbor Mortgage!!

Huge is terrible. Just terrible. Doesn't know squat about sports. Borderline racist/sexist. The veil on his vaquely sports related rants against affirmative action and title 9 seem awfully thin. Finally, when he gets the occassional good guest, he interrupts constantly to insert his own dumbass opinion.

Probably to tell them about the HUGE combo at Celebration Cinemas or the steaks at Brann's.

sucks.
I was really hoping that Drew Lane was going to show up on WDFN in the future.

That's too bad. WDFN was great for years, but in the last three years or so, it has really taken a nose dive. If only Wojo could replace Mike Valenti...
I read that Matt Shepard's show will still be on.

Another downer of an article from Jay; c'mon dude, make a positive post every once in awhile. Surely there's some good, positive stuff you can think of, right?
