OT: Tim Miles is a funny guy
I know this has been discussed previously on the blog, but Tim Miles is just great. I've never seen a post-game presser with so much laughing in it. His players genuinely seem to love him. Miles even worked in a Shawshank Redemption reference. In general, just a a great press conference. Good stuff, and I'm rooting hard for Nebraska to beat Wisconsin this weekend and sneak their way into the tournament.

Nebraska beats Wisconsin and we take care of business against Indiana, and we just moved up a seed in the tournament, in all likelihood . . . .
If the Wolverines beat Indiana and win the Big Ten Tournament, it should be impossible for them to be worse than a #2 seed.
But I have a very easy time rooting for Nebraska this season in part because it seems they have a really good head coach leading them.
I love that man.
It's also that sort of style of leadership that folks like Beilein and Miles exhibit that can take a team that no one really thought much of at the beginning of the season and, in the case of Miles, have them achieving many levels above what the pundits as well as fans probably expected. It really is fun to watch a program go through that, and I dare say, we've experienced something similar as John Beilein has brought Michigan basketball back to a high-performing status.
Is it just me or does the player on the right look a little like Charlie Conway in the third Mighty Ducks movie?
Miles is great. Good fans too. It would be nice if they had a football coach I could tolerate. It would be nice to root for them in the other half of the conference for football too.
...but if he beats UM a few times I'm pretty sure we will find many things to be objectionable about him.
Until then he's a snugglywugglesnuckumcutiepie of a coach. Awwww...
My thought exactly. It is fun to like a coach whose team you beat a lot. I don't think Miles is long for Nebraska. He might be gone after this year, and if not this - if he has a similar year next year, he will be at a bigger basketball school.
should be Beilein's only competition for B1G COTY and the only one that won't make me kill puppies if he does win it.
Miles has been a great addition to the Big Ten. Awesome guy. Depending on how things shake out with our staff, I wouldn't mind him ending up in AA.
As an assistant? In 5-10(?) years to replace Beilein?
To replace JB. I would say he'll be here 5 more years tops. Would love him to stay longer, but he's getting up there in years.
Is he here to amuse us? How the @#$% is he funny?!?!
Nebraska.
Other than UM, I don't seek out teams to watch but this year I have made it a priority to watch every Nebraska game that is on TV. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them play and find myself rooting for them with the same passion I root for UM. Their progress this year is nothing short of incredible.
I've been a fan of Miles for a while and I was surprised when he went to Nebraska. Given their commitment to improving facilities and be competitive in the B1G, I think its a good fit.
It's been a long time since there was such a likable coach in the Big Ten (other than Beilein).
He's great.
IIRC, he will often go into the crowd after home games and take selfies with fans.
between douchenozzles (Izzo, Crean, Ryan) and gentlemen (Miles, McCaffrey, Beilein). Where do the others fall on this bimodal spectrum?
Am I the only one who thinks Tom Crean is a coke addict? Tim Miles is like what Crean might be if he was sober.
im not sure I want to win the big ten tourney
thats 4 games in 7 days and 5 games in 9 days.
so let me pose the question, is it better to win a conference tourney or not and play a ton of games, or is it better to lose and have 1 game less and a little more rest before the start of the dance ?
There is nothing to support the "rest" argument. Championship teams win their conference tournaments.
Crazy fact: Miles is actually a year older than Thad Matta.
