OT: Tigers vs the O's (7/7/2010)
Lookin' good for the Tigers.
BTW, If the season ended today, Cabrera gets the triple crown:
...Carlos.
...classy move.
What a bum.
Though if there is anyone hotter than Cabrera right now, it might be Brandon Inge. He is a man possessed right now. He's up over .270, with a bunch of extra base hits.
...plays and both Tigers are safe. 3-0 Bengals.
...Jones around and bounces it off of the CF wall. 4-0 Tigers.
...flies out to the wall and the O's are still sporting a goose egg.
Detroit has been disgustingly good at Comerica so far this season. In fact, only Atlanta (30-10 at Turner) has been better than the Tigers (29-12) at their own park. Now, I don't expect Los Tigres to continue to blaze a trail that hot at home, but if they can get their road record closer to .500 (currently 16-25 away from the D), look out for October.
Jose Bautista hits an inside-the-parker?! I'm assuming all three outfielders crashed into each other as the baseball rolled harmlessly to the wall.
Actually, that probably isn't that far off (OF made a diving attempt and came up short, ball rolled to the wall). Please advise.
I was actually really close, it was Span and Young nearly crashing into each other, letting the ball roll to the wall in left-center. Miscommunication is key.
...is stru-ga-ling this inning.
...the damage. 4-1 Tigers at the stretch.
huge win if the Jays are to hold on
The fact that he seemed to be joking around after that last inning, with his cap off, probably means he's done for the evening. A very nice outing, indeed. I'll take 1ER over 7IP every single time.
(I know that Bautista now leads w/ 22 HRs)
But Cabrera is at .347 now.
Damn.
Also, if Brennan Boesch had enough ABs to be eligible, he'd be 4th in the AL at .341. The Tigers lineup looks damn good right now 1 thru 7.
Excellent job of covering first on that 3-6-1 double play. Probably the toughest DP to turn in baseball. Nice job, kid.
I'm a sucker for the 3-6-1 double play. Probably my favorite double play aside from strike em out throw em out.
I love the Strike-em-out-throw-em-out double play!
But I'm partial to an outfielder fielding a fly ball and nailing a guy at the plate. That, or the 1-2-3.
Yeah, unlike Jay Sborz, he didn't crap himself after he hit the first batter he ever faced in the majors.
He pitched the last two nights, so I guess he's not available....
Papa Grande needed a nite off.
Papa Grande just might be might favorite nickname of all time.
Also, Valverde had a rougher-than-usual 9th inning on Monday in the sauna known as Comerica Park.
Coke closes the game by striking out former Wolverine Jake Fox. Tigers are now 9 games over .500.
twins/jays tied at 5 now
Jays now up, 6-5.
Beat those Twinkies!
6-5 going into the top of the 9th. morneau leaves the game after getting injured on a hard slide into second. i wonder if that will affect his status for the all star game?
No one likes baseball. Except for those that like soccer. I don't understand people taht hate soccer but love baseball. Baseball is just as, if not more, boring as soccer. Just a ton of standing around.
blue jays hold on to beat the twinkies. your detroit tigers are now up 1-1/2 in the central.
Actually only 1 game, the White Sox won again.
Goal in sight: take two of three heading in, and lead by 3.
The Twins get all the attention year in and year out while the Tigers get disrespected. I hope Leyland can motivate his team to close the deal this year. They always seem to be below average against the AL Central.
As an O's fan (raised in Baltimore), it hurts to say this, but if the Tigers HADN'T swept it would have been a shocker. I am just glad the Tigers are now in a better position to catch up on the Twins.
That said, I would be surprised to see the Tigers get stronger as the season goes on, especially with the gentle slide towards mediocrity that they seem to make every September.
Now the Twins (and sox) need to catch THEM.
