OT: Tigers acquire Doug Fister and David Pauley

Submitted by maizeandblue21 on

I know this is a little late but i've been waiting on the full details to come out, which they haven't. The tigers have traded LHP Charlie Furbush and OF Casper Wells (also could include 3B Francisco Martinez, top prospect, and a player to be named later) for RHP Doug Fister who has a lower ERA than anyother tiger pitcher not named Justin Verlander and will solidify the rotation along with being under control until 2015. They also have acquired David Pauley as part of the same deal and has been lightouts this year so that will help out bullpen tremendously. Also there is another deal expected to occur later today as Jacob Turner will be sent back to the minors but will not say which one and DD says we aren't done just yet.

UPDATE:  The PTBNL will be one of either Nick Castellanos, Chance Ruffin, or Drew Smyly.  I am going to go ahead and assume it won't be Nick, although that weould be an amazing haul for my Mariners.

Might be a safer bet.  I liek lookout landing, but I have been reading the updates on this trade from mlbreaderumors.com.  As for Brantley, I really don't think Seattle needs another catcher in the farm system.  They have ample that have potential, notably Baron.

And tech. Brantley isn't one of their top three picks from the 2010 draft, so that SHOULD eliminate him.  I would take Chance, given that he can come and help almost immediately.

is Leyland leaving Coke against all these right handed hitters? Did he miss the part where he has struggled mightily against right handers this season? Coke needs to be limited to facing left handers out the pen for the most part.

I am overly thrilled with it. Defiantly gives the Tigers a leg up in the division, but it still isn't enough to give them a legitimate shot in the playoffs against the likes of New York and Boston, not to mention NL teams such as Philly. Even though they were limited in what they could do with the asking price for guys like Jimenez being so high. Defiantly would have been upset had they of traded Turner and Porcello for somebody like Jimenez.

are about to destroy their future by acquiring Jimenez. I feel bad for indians fans now, nah im just kiding, but still that will be a terrible trade if it happens. Jimenez wont put them over the top they still have an inconsistent lineup with a really shitty back end of the rotation.

have a bunch of other holes in the back end of their rotation and in their lineup. The Rockies were asking too much, other teams were smart by not taking the bait.

Giving up a sizable package here but I'm glad we're not falling for the Jimenez sweepstakes.  Indians just traded Drew Pomeranz for him, which is pretty much like trading Turner.  I think Jimenez is overpriced; Fister's not that far behind him in terms of value IME.
