OT: Red Wings @ Blackhawks Game 7 Open Thread

Submitted by goblueram on

The top-seeded Blackhawks have battled back from a 3-1 series defecit to force a decisive game 7 in Chicago.  This has been a great back-and-forth series, and is a fitting way to end the in-conference rivalry between these two great Original Six franchises.

Zetterberg and Datsyuk have come up huge when it has mattered most for the Wings, both this season and in years past.  Jimmy has been phenomenal in net this year, and he may have what it takes to steal this game in Quick-like fashion.  Toews seems to have found his game a little bit in the last few games (when he is not whining), and Crawford has been solid in net despite 1 bad goal.  This should be a nerve-racking affair.

I'm heading off to the United Center shortly, and I'm hoping it will get quiet in there real quickly.

Nyquist stood out to me and looks fresh, he's been getting TO's and ramping up the pressure quickly in Chicago's end. I'm not sure he's had a shfit without making a positive impact.

Some dumb shit in front of the Wings bench. Originally I was thinking the best call would be coincidental minors or maybe a misconduct (no call on it and it didn't look like the right call to penalize either team, at the time at least), but there's a photo out there that appears to show Filppula being slew-footed. Not cool if so, obviously.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg will pick up minutes here in the second half of this game. We limited their PT at the start of game 7 against the Ducks too. Need some chances once this happens.

Needs to light up Shaw. He ended Filpulla's night just because he wanted to mess with him. Payback...
