OT: Game Six

Submitted by wooderson on
ESPN's poll question today: What would you rather watch, NFL pre-season or playoff hockey? It's always nice to see a supposedly all-sports network showing open hostility to a major sport that is having the most compelling play-offs in decades. Interestingly, states that voted overwhelmingly for pre-season football: Georgia, Arizona, and oh yeah, California. I'm guessing folks in Hamilton Ontario wouldn't be tuning out the Stanley Cup finals for Roughriders vs. Argonauts but maybe that's just me. Way to go Gary Bettman! Anyway since this board thankfully isn't ESPN, what does everybody think about the game tonight? Do the Wings close it out on the road? Is Getzlaf sick, hurt or both? Will the home crowd carry the Ducks or will they all stay home to hear about Brett Favre throwing around a football with some high school kids?

I do really like the Wings, but I if the Spring game conflicted with a playoff game, I would probably choose pre-season M football over NHL playoffs. I know they're talking about NFl pre-season, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

That is just absurd unless you just hate hockey. But if that were the case, you probably wouldn't have clicked on a hockey thread. For the record, the Tigers are my #1 of my 5 teams (Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers, Wolverines) but I would NEVER even watch a Tigers regular season game at the expense of a Red Wings playoff game, let alone a Wolverines practice.

Wings win tonight, Getzlaf looked sick, he didn't look injured, there will be a lot of people at Anaheim tonight, but they're going to be very disappointed. Also, I really wish this Brett Favre saga would end, it's like the Greg Paulus deal, "Is he coming? Is he not? Is he staying retired? Is he not?" Make up your mind so we can move on!

They have finished up their last 8 playoff series on the road. And I agree with Placentasaurus, the Wings want to finish this up to be on par with the Hawks. GO WINGS!!!!

Yeah, the Ducks looked worn out in game 5. They may come out with a lot of energy, but I don't think their energy will last the whole game. Of course, they may just come out fighting. After all, that's who they really are.

Since living in LA I've somewhat adopted the LA teams, mostly because they aren't rivals at all with any of my Detroit teams. However, I fucking hate the Ducks. I HATE THEM. They are taking the Av's place as my least favorite NHL team. I hope we win 18-0.

If I'm calling up McCarty, I'm expecting the Ducks to play dirty dirty dirty hockey in game 6, because they expect to lose but don't want to see us take The Cup. If that's the play I'm expecting from the Ducks, you better damn well believe I'm leaving Rafalski on the bench. Our team has already proven they can win without him multiple times - let him rest and avoid injury. $0.02

One of the commentators on Versus for the Bruins-Canes game just said'stick-to-it-iveness.' Then he (jokingly) said how one of the player's communications degree from Michigan would take him nowhere. No, there is no point to any of this post. Wings in 6(!)
