OT: Friday evening Beaver and brew thread

Submitted by sadeto on
Are you ready for some Beaver? I know I am. Eagerly anticipating the first home game under Harbaugh, I am consuming a 2011 Ridge Three Valleys Zinfandel blend, a very fine wine. I rubbed some ribs which will go in the smoker very early tomorrow, made some burger patties, and marinated some wings in Korean bean sauce. My three German buddies Weihenstephaner, Schneider, and Aventinus are chilling in anticipation of game time. At the stroke of midnight this will go from a day of painful remembrance to a day of hope and excitement. Raising a glass to you, my fellow Wolverines. What are you drinking?

Drove up from Evansville, IN. Staying at the usual spot, my cousins about four minutes away from the stadium. It's just the wife and I tonight, and we are heading into town early for breakfast and to watch the city wake up. So tonight, it's a hot shower, and an ice cold Sprite. I can't wait to cry like a baby tomorrow, and for my wife to experience this thing I've come to love with my entire angry heart, for the first time tomorrow. God bless guys, we party on the morrow.

Drinking some Cigar City Florida Cracker, laying low tonight.

A coworker came in today with a McGriddle, which for some reason really made me want one. Instead I'm going to try to make my own McGriddle-esq sliders out of not-McDonald's ingredients for the game tomorrow. Not MGoBBQ fancy, but I'm hopeful they'll be good.

I'm not drinking because it makes me have to pee in the middle of the night and then I can't fall back asleep and then I'm grumpy the entire next day.

Yes I'm old and can't do things young men can do.  I didn't always used to be this way but it will happen to you too.

42.  Things started going downhill for me in the ability to consume alcohol around 37.   I am actually in better physical shape than I was in my early 20s, but for some reason boozing treats me much harsher than it used to.

Having kids also means you can't sit around the house with a hangover.

I'm 51 and I usually have to get up at some point to pee, definitely if I have a few. I remember my older brothers in law talking about it, it's like a switch goes off when you hit that magic number. Fortunately, I don't need the blue pill yet, still strong in that department. The beaver will be happy tonight, though the Beavers will suffer tomorrow.

I've already got some steaks marinating for after the game - it will be kind of hard to cook them while I am there unless I want to butt in on someone's tailgate, and more than likely, I won't be there earlier enough to appreciate tailgating this time around.

For the moment, I've got a nice Alamos malbec and, for the first time in what seems like a while, I can open windows in this house and let some fresh, not blazing hot air in.

I'm going to whole foods in the AM (yes, Rafi has class, motherfuckers) and will be drunk by noon. Right now drinking some generic CA wine. ..... and I'm stoned. very, very stoned.

Just finished watching the Kickers draw with Maryland on the road and drinking a Founders ReDANKulous. It's maltier than I expected.

I'll likely have a Soccer update posted week after next for the eight of you who care.

Water.

Flying to England tomorrow for a week, then on to Austria for a week. Will be taking the train to Munich to take in all Oktoberfest has to offer as well. Paulaner Marzen FTW.

Getting ready to eat some sushi at a place that beat Bobby Flay. Then heading to the market for country style ribs to try out the mgorecipe tomorrow.
