OT: Fantasy Premier League 2021/22

Submitted by wingedsig on August 11th, 2021 at 9:41 AM

Had some great success on here last year, so once again, I seek participants to join my Fantasy Premier League League(s)! League starts Friday, so everyone must join by tomorrow.

2 options this year:

"Normal" League: You pick your team from all available players with a specified budget. 1 free transfer per week unless you want to take a hit. Most points at the end of the year wins.

To Join: Auto-Join link - https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/auto-join/7fk59y

NEW "Draft" League: Functions similar to that of our NFL fantasy football. Draft is Thursday, Aug 12 at 9pm EST. Head-to-head league, transfers, waivers, no budget, etc. First time we're trying this, so it's a bit of an experiment! Please only join if you can do the draft live with us!

To Join: Visit https://draft.premierleague.com. Once you have logged in or registered click on 'Start' and then 'Join a league'. You can then enter the league code 223y6g to join the league.

These games are awesome for those looking to learn more about the PL and while there is a certain amount of skill/knowhow involved, my girlfriend won our league last year and it was her first time playing. She kicks ass though, so good luck.

Love me some Brentford Bees. On a lark saw them play at old Griffin Park and adopted them as my English football team. Now that they have been promoted to the EPL it reinforces my love of the promotion/relegation scheme.

I so want to see a game at Craven Cottage. And, of course, the new Brentford Community Stadium. I've had two trips to London canceled due to the pandemic and am now figuring next spring to get there. Besides Brentford,  I've been to Millwall, Charlton Athletic and QPR so far.

I never thought I would utter these words in my life:  I am so excited for the upcoming EPL season!  My wife started following it two years ago.   I got hooked last year.   It's been great fun learning about various clubs, their historical arc within the EPL, and the relegation system that add so much drama at the bottom end of the table.   This system should absolutely be adopted by American sports.  As a devout, passionate Wolves fan*, I'm very stoked about the games this weekend.

That being said, I feel very under-equipped to lead an EPL fantasy roster.   Do you have more info on how weekly scoring works?   I would definitely be the league punching bag, but it could be loads of fun.

*Devout and passionate as one can be after "selecting" Wolves for my fandom based purely on Wolverhampton's linguistic similarity to Wolverine.    In a similar vein, my daughter declared herself a Brighton and Hove Albion fan based purely on their visually pleasing blue color scheme and very stylish shirt collars.

I totally feel everything you said. It really is such an entertaining league, and no hate on how you chose Wolves either! They're a super fun squad with a great coach and fanbase. We Americans have to pick a team somehow.

As far as rules & scoring, you can visit here for all rules & FAQs (for the normal league). Seems like a lot, but I promise you'll pick it up quick, especially if you watch the matches.

I took the plunge for the draft option.  I think that we're going out to look for Perseids tonight, so I can't guarantee that I'll make *good* picks at 9PM tomorrow, but I should be able to join.
