To be fair, the firing sounds like a bunch of editors and middle management scapegoating the writer when all are equally culpable. If the piece was inappropriate, everyone who approved it and let it stand should be fired, too. Otherwise, the firing is just a PR move.

This is tabloid journalism. Every major news outlet had a story up about this when it first happened, a week ago, including Deadspin. Why is Deadspin writing another in-depth piece about it a week later?
It just comes off as another attempt to rub the competitions face in it.
