OT: Deadspin on SB Nation's editorial failures

Submitted by RedShirt232 on
Of interest because we care about shoddy sports journalism and SB Nation Editorial Director Spencer Hall has been a friend of this site. I've been dying to know how that Holtzclaw sympathy piece made it to publication. Deadspin has some answers and insights. Keep it civil. http://deadspin.com/how-sb-nation-published-their-daniel-holtzclaw-stor…

When Deadspin has become the quality control mechanism and moral compass for journalism (sports or otherwise), our country is truly fucked...

Say what you will about Deadspin (and if you read to the end the author calls out deadspin), but this is a well reported rundown of what happened. And analysis of the media.

Good job.

This is tabloid journalism. Every major news outlet had a story up about this when it first happened, a week ago, including Deadspin. Why is Deadspin writing another in-depth piece about it a week later?

It just comes off as another attempt to rub the competitions face in it.

You don't have to be a good bastion of journalism to call out shitty journalism. You do, however, need to be prepared for the mockery and backlash. Deadspin amiright???
