This is where my Devils shine! (Unlike the ice lately)
Im watching it so I can get angry when the Wings pick 4th. I dont know why I do this to myself.
Lottery is a joke. Worst team. First pick. I get the diving to lose but seems like this is managed poorly.
And there it is the Wings predictably get the lowest pick they could drop to.
Merry Christmas for a mystery team.
Bettman is a mouth breather.
Detroit screwed again by an over complicated system whose outcome should be dictated by the standings. 4 fucking years in a row with this shit.
A team in the qualifying round of the 2020 playoffs has won the No. 1 pick.
Great liberal Canadian logic. And they wonder why no one cares about hockey. Basketball is king in Toronto for this very reason
WTF does this logic have to do with liberal Canadians?
I can't decide if this is ignorant idiocy or deserves an /s
Toronto will always begin and ends with the Leafs and this would not matter if the Raptors won 20 titles in a row..
The Leafs making the playoffs is a bigger deal in Toronto than the Raptors winning the NBA championship.
The Leafs making a fcuking scouting change.
Holy shit this system is bad. Way worse than the nba lottery. What is the deal and why? When you are the worst team you shouldn’t have a 50 percent chance of being 4th — you should have a 75 percent chance of first and go down from there from one through four — so odd.
Yeah, happened to my Sabres a few times. I get trying to dissuade tanking, but the NHL has swung the pendulum so far to that side that being the worst team can give you downright bad odds to pick first.
Son of bitch. Shit.
From a competitive standpoint, I'd be perfectly happy with Rossi or Askarov at #4.
But the thought of Pittsburgh or Chicago getting Lafreniere is just gross.
Wings either getting a 5'9 forward or a 5'10 defensemen. #1 will find its way to Chicago somehow as well.
Disaster for the NHL
Oh man, it would be incredible to see the Rangers beat the Hurricanes to make the playoffs in the qualifying round and go on a run, the Hurricanes get the 1st overall which then goes to the Rangers as part of the Brady Skjei trade from the deadline.
Edit: shit, that scenario doesn't work out as they'd get either Carolina's 1st which they own or Toronto's 1st which Carolina owns but they can't get the 1st overall unless they lose in the QR and win the 2nd lottery. Oh well, this shit is fucking confusing.
Just awful. That made the NBA draft look like a great model. That’s how bad that was.
Fuck that
Well we just have to root for a canceled season now and a redraw
They probably wouldn’t do a redraw. They’d just give all teams in the qualifying round an equal shot instead of all the losers.
This is the equivalent of the the New Orleans Saints losing in the first round last year yet picking first in the NFL draft. A complete joke Bettman has been for the betterment of the league.
The lottery system was trash before the restructured 2020 playoffs and qualifying round.
Now that a playoff team gets the #1 pick hopefully it provides motivation to change the system.
It's a crime against parity that the 8 qualifying teams had a combined draft odds greater than the worst team's odds. It was literally more likely for one of them to get it than Detroit.
I'm not against the idea of a draft lottery, but this system literally punishes you for being the worst in the league. I mean...Detroit had a greater chance of dropping to 4 than getting one of the top 3 picks. That's a bad system. Plus...Detroit wasn't even tanking! They really were that bad!
