NCAA Tournament top 16 seeds

Region 1: (1) Gonzaga, (2) Alabama, (3) Oklahoma, (4) Iowa

Region 2: (1) Baylor, (2) Illinois, (3) Tennessee, (4) Texas

Region 3: (1) Michigan, (2) Houston, (3) West Virginia, (4) Missouri

Region 4: (1) Ohio State, (2) Villanova, (3) Virginia, (4) Texas Tech

Going to change a lot for sure, however, I would gladly welcome this particular draw.  Also somehow feel Coach Howard is going to have the team ready for UW after the layoff.  Hope is not a strategy, but let's still hope BIG is not too stubborn to force too many games on them in the 3 weeks until tournaments begin.

I'm pretty nervous/excited/pumped for UM basketball tomorrow. Really, REALLY curious to see how the guys fare after the layoff. But I'm just happy that we get to see them again.

trying not to look at how hockey and WBB seemed to have started 'hot' instantly, i still think the MBB lay-off, though too long, might nevertheless yield some benefits.  specifically, even college kids' bodies get banged up and sore and maybe this will be like an NFL 'bye week' (x2) and the guys will show up with fresh legs and ready to rock.  you have to think at a minimum austin davis' ankle will be 100%.  probably were some other sore ankles/knees that benefitted from the time off.

we'll see in about 18 hrs.

Should be interesting tomorrow. I’m hopeful our guys will be ready. Looking forward to watching and seeing how the team develops. Hoping to retain a top 4 seed our closing schedule will be challenging and most importantly that we get back to pre pause performance.

I’m confused by the seeding and the makeup of the regions. I was under the impression the committee would be using an “S curve” or “snake draft” for seeding the teams. Should that method not have yielded the top 2 seed (number 5 overall team) playing in the same region as the lowest1 seed (number 4 overall team)?

Such a method would give Ohio State, the lowest 1 seed, the “toughest” region, and give Gonzaga, the top overall 1 seed, the “easiest” region. But it seems UM is slotted with the easiest path with the lowest 2 seed (8th overall Houston) and lowest 4 seed (16th overall Missouri).

I’m not complaining since such a drawing certainly seems beneficial at the moment. But it just doesn’t seem that the “S curve” methodology is being implemented in the way I understand it to mean. Does anyone else have a better understanding of how the committee is exactly going about seeding the four regions?

Agree with your well stated points just think its tough to come off this layoff and get back to the high level they were playing at right before the break.  Of course sooner is better than later, so fingers crossed today.
