Michigan in the NFL

Submitted by canzior on

Last night was a 2 TD night, Jehu Chesson with a 76 punt return for a TD and Dymonte Thomas with a 58 yard pick 6, blowing by everyone on the offense for the score.

Also..did anyone else know that Nick Sheridan was the QB Coach for the Hoosiers?

Player Team Post
Alan Branch NE
Amara Darboh SEA “He’s been really impressive,” head coach Pete Carroll said Monday after practice. “First, he’s been really smart, he’s picked a lot of stuff up, it comes easy to him, he practices really full-speed all the time, so you’re seeing a real good look from him. He can compete and battle with our guys.  “We think he’s going to be the kind of guy who will block well too, haven’t seen enough of that yet, and we also think he’ll be a receiver who can contribute on special teams,” Carroll continued. “He’s looked good, he plays fast too; he runs a four-four [forty-yard dash time], you can see it on the practice field. “He’s made good, tough catches, he’s a good route runner.”

“We just haven’t had enough chances to get him out there, but what we’ve seen has been very positive.”     ESPN Seattle reporters BOLD take is that he will get cut, because he has no catches in the preseason.
Ben Braden NYJ
Ben Gedeon MIN Likely Starter with Vikings, has been impressing coaches since he arrived “Every time you look up, there he is making the tackle,” Adam Zimmer said. “That’s the name of the game, tackle the guy with the ball. He’s done a really good job of that. He’s done well in the classroom, too, learning a couple different positions.”
Brandon Graham PHI Best Eagles player in Madden 18, and 2nd best LDE in the game.
Brennan Beyer BAL
Chad Henne  JAX Will NOT be the starter in week 1 for JAX. Still gonna be Bortles and the Jags are exploring bringing in another QB. Unless Bortles lights it up, expect Henne to get some starts this season. Bortles is getting the nod due to a porous OL and better mobility than Henne.
Channing Stribling CLE Struggling a bit, got flagged for holding, but had 2 tackles in last game
Chris Wormley BAL 1 tackle in 3 preseason games, trying to work his way into the 2 deep. It is a very talented DL group in BAL however.
David Harris NE No big surprise, but may win the starting MLB role for the Pats. 9 tackles in 2 games, and appears to be "motivated"
Delano Hill SEA Beat for a TD in last game, also had 6 tackles.  Overall, playing well
Denard Robinson FA
Deveon Smith MIA Ceiling seems to be a practice squad chance
Devin Funchess CAR fared better in last preseason game, catching both targets after a rough week last week.
Dymonte Thomas DEN 5 preseason tackles, as well as a FR and FF.  Broncos have A LOT of safety depth, so practice squad seems to be his best bet. before the....Pick 6! Last night vs Cardinals.  https://twitter.com/Broncos/status/903444280114462721
Erik Magnuson SF Getting 1st team reps, expected to make the team
Fitzgerald Toussaint PIT Left with a "leg contusion" in last preseason game.
Frank Clark SEA Injured wrist, not expected to miss any time
Graham Glasgow DET Slated to start at G
Jabrill Peppers CLE Got his first NFL intereception against J Winston vs the Bucs. If you watch Hard Knocks, Gerald McCoy and a teammate asked "is that the rookie?  That's Jabrill Peppers?"  DC saw the pick and immediately assumed Peppers would house it.  https://twitter.com/NFL/status/901592754991448064
Jake Butt DEN
Jake Long MIN
Jake Rudock DET Generating some buzz after a very good outing vs the Patriots. Supposedly the subject of trade inquiries. I think we can all agree that it's good to see him doing so well. 339 yards and 3 tds in 3 preseason games so far.
Jake Ryan GB
Jarrod Wilson JAX Secured a roster spot, improved over last year.
Jehu Chesson KC 2 completions, 15 yards last week.  74 yard PR for td https://twitter.com/Chiefs/status/903433285564375041
Jeremy Clark NYJ
Joe Kerridge GB called a "MONSTER" at times, and is thumping people at FB. Expected to make the roster 2 years in a row.
Jourdan Lewis DAL Still dealing with the hamstring 8 preseason tackles, and a 4th & 1 stop vs WAS last week
Kenny Allen BAL

Averaged 47.3 yards per punt and made a 40 yard fg

Kyle Kalis WAS Pretty much a lock to make the Redskins as a backup guard, coaches like his "nasty streak"
Leon Hall FA
Matt Godin HOU Torn ACL, had a good shot at making the team otherwise, with 4 tackles playing DT
Matt Wile ARI Not separating himself in punter competition, Bruce Arians mentions potentially bringing in someone else to compete for the job.
Michael Schofield DEN In a fight to keep starting RT job and potentially a job with the team.
Patrick Omameh JAX Might start at LG for Jags
Richard Ash DAL 1 tackle in 3 preseason games
Ryan Glasgow CIN Glasgow, either going to be 1st or 2nd DT off the bench. Near lock to make the roster. 8 preseason tackles, and a 4th & 1 stop vs WAS last week
Taco Charlton DAL

Celebrated a sack by making tacos for his teammates. I think I speak for the entire Michigan fanbase when I say that would've been as good or better than Mo Hurst' Get in my belly™

Taylor Lewan TEN One of the better tackles in the league. Seen an article or two about mammoth holes he created, that the RB's failed to hit. I'm guessing this should give him his college déjà vu.
Tom Brady NE Unverified reports have him savings women, children, and pets from Hurricane Harvey in Houston, after practice on his own dime.  Also, may or may not have had twinkle in his eye brightened.
Willie Henry BAL Inactive last week

Was the starting corner last night for the Browns against Chicago.   Apparently the prospect of throwing against him was so terrifying the Bears handed off 9 straight times to start the game (3 straight 3 & outs).   He wasnt tested so the camera never caught him although I did see him assist on a couple of tackles during his time on the field.

Not sure if he'll survive Saturday or not here but overall he's played pretty good.   The issue he's gonna have is Gregg Williams wants a defensive backfield of vicious hitters which is why he loves Peppers and cut Joe Haden.  And a vicious hitter Stribling is not.  Unfortunately.

EDIT: Browns just announced their first round of cuts.  Stribling didnt make it and is now an UFA.

you rather not see a bunch of Wolverines in that update which means they're either at the bottom scrap of the barrell (fighting for a roster spot) or they're backups/3rd string.

Strong performance could help their case for the final roster spot.

If true, this one about Kalis was really surprising: "Pretty much a lock to make the Redskins as a backup guard ..."

If so, good for him. Better late than never (O-line competence, that is), I guess ...

Ive watched parts of 3 Browns games and Jabrill has been as good as any rookie in the preseason. On Special teams he is electrifying. Teams have already begun to kick away from him. On defense ive noticed whenever the browns d line or LBs miss tackles on the opposing teams RB, Jabrill is always there to ensure the play doesnt break for long yardage. And he is making some hard hits as well.

Jabrill was a total steal
