Contrary to the post from the idiot OP from earlier.

If you're checking the Reddit r/CFB Urban Meyer/lunch discussion thread, sorry to burst your bubble.

I don't think he was ever going to get straight up fired.  If that is the course of action, it is in both sides interests to come to a negotiated separation, lest all this gets rehashed again when Urban sues OSU for wrongful termination.

Shelly on site to be by her husband's side when it's announced that he is being reinstated immediately upon the finding of no wrongdoing?

Why else would she be there?

they announce Shelley is going to head up some sort of internal department or initiative on domestic violence training and compliance, or she's going to start up some sort of foundation/nonprofit to go around and make OSU look like a leader in domestic abuse training.

To be at his side as he announces his retirement from coaching.  The stress of the past month has been too much and he loves his football program too much to be a distraction, so he's decided in the best interest of all parties, he's retiring.   Which was the plea deal he struck with the BoT to keep them from firing him, and in return they will give some BS statement saying there was poor judgement on his part, but he did report what he knew to Gene.....

Then Gene gets fired.

or he gets reinstated with no further punishment.

This is interesting.  I'm really starting to wonder if Meyer gave them an ultimatum.  A couple game suspension would be such an easy resolution to this thing.  They don't really lose anything and get to save face.  This is one of those it would be great to be a fly on the wall moments.

Why is Shelley getting a free pass in this whole ordeal?  A woman of all people ignoring the pleas for help from another woman being abused.

Longtime lurker. First time poster. Because: this thread.

OSU situation reeks of low-class, he-said/she-said, Jerry-Springer type reality television. Lately, I feel dirty even reading more and more about it.

But is it a fireable offense to have kept Smith employed? To have (maybe) not consistently reported information in the appropriate way?

Given Urban's past record w/regard to upholding any semblance of character, values, ethics/morals, etc., YES, it reeks of everything this man has always shown himself to be: a winner, at all costs, with zero regard for "doing the right thing."

And we're expecting TOSU to be any different? C'mon. There couldn't be a fan base alive with a more perfect head coach to fit its culture. They truly complete each other.

tldr: urban sucks as a human. he'll be back to work asap. same as it ever was.

It is a fireable offense to suspect that Zach Smith is engaged in domestic violence and not report that to the Title IX coordinator.

In fact, it is virtually a mandatory firing offense.  Following Title IX guidelines is the key to lots of federal funding.  The consequences of being found in violation of Title IX are potentially devastating.  No school can risk that, not even THEE OSU.

So, this was a catered affair, complete with lunch arriving before 11 AM and everything, Urban supposedly showed up but not before he parked in front of a dumpster in an example of poetry not often seen in Columbus. They went to a lot of trouble to make sure it looked like something was happening. I find that fascinating....and sad somehow.

i mean it's pure speculation but maybe the board never really discussed the report until this morning, then decided they had more questions for urban and/or Shelley so they called him in, and now they're discussing more.

aren't there like 20 Trustees? hard to think they'd all had a chance to read the report, discuss, agree, and notify urban since monday.  not like they are all sitting around watching Springer. they are busy people.
