JJ Still Leads Nation in Completion Percentage; Blake No. 2 in TDs
The race is getting a little tighter, but JJ McCarthy continues to lead the nation in completion percentage. I'm pretty sure he's been the national leader since the beginning of the season. He's at 74.6%, just ahead of Henry Colombi of Marshall at 73.2.
Blake Corum is fourth in rushing at 1,078 yards and second in TDs with 14. A kid from Pitt had three TDs on Saturday and now leads the nation with 16. I expect Blake to catch him against Rutgers.
And Jake Moody is No. 2 in the nation with 18 field goals. While we're happy he's making that many, I think we're also not happy he's taking that many.
These stats make such good reading. The quarterback from Akron has been sacked 41 times.

Sure we'd all love to trade in FG for TDs.... but I'll take a FG over a punt any day.
FGs aren't the ideal end of a drive, but having a running game that give us control of the clock, time of possession and an sizable advantage in # of plays helps make it a little less of a concern.

Slightly annoying that the first Corum TD went down as a receiving TD since it was a forward pitch

A "forward pitch" is a pass

Why though? He still gets credit for the TD. And as a bonus, JJ also gets a passing TD.

Neat that Corum (90 points) and Moody (89 points) are #2 and #3 in scoring in the NCAA. I expect Blake will extend his lead on Saturday night.

But what does this have to do with Mel Tucker and the four suspended MSU players?

In all seriousness, if Corum keeps this up he will find himself in New York. He will have to play the game of his career against OSU to have a shot at winning, but he can definitely still make it there.

Would also need Herndon and Stroud to stumble down the stretch, as well as no other QB to start popping off, just for a shot at winning. The Heisman is basically a QB-Exclusive award these days (winning all but 4 since 2000).
