Do the payments have to be uniform to all players? Spending as it currently is (not talking about directly paying players) isn't even close to uniform (see different facilities between say the football team and women's field hockey for example). And mandating equal payments to everyone is just silly, you wouldn't run a business that way. There's a reason upper management makes way more than say a secretary, etc. So it would stand to reason that the school would have more funds for the teams that bring in money (men's football and basketball) compared to all others that basically lose money.

NIL money doesn't come directly from the school, so not sure you have a point about "Michigan makes top 5 money but refuses to share it." However, the school/AD/program needs to do a better job of facilitating and getting the deals lined up for the players sooner to give May a better chance of landing kids like this.

Northwestern is 3rd in the B1G this year. If only we could reach the "ceiling" and be as good as NW. By recruiting rankings, I would bet Michigan had a more "talented" roster than NW this year, they just waaaaay underperformed and there's no one else to blame it on but JH.
Isn't this already in place? I mean, the students have to keep a certain GPA to be eligible. Now, you're not going to be able to force someone paying NIL to a player to include academic requirements, but if the player is not eligible to play, the NIL deals will dry up.
