Incoming Recruits and Transfers (Expectations/Predictions)

Submitted by JakefromStateFarm on May 24th, 2020 at 2:43 PM

Haven't made a post in awhile but I was really curious to see what the board thinks about the incoming recruits and transfers. Personally, I am really excited for Hunter Dickinson and think he fits the Juwan Howard play style very well and may be a future star. I am also very excited for Mike Smith because i think having a pg who can shoot the 3 is important for an offense nowadays. Also, I am really hoping Nojel Eastern is headed to Michigan because our defense would be great with Wagner, Eastern, Brooks, And potentially Livers in the lineup.

Which recruits and transfers do you think will enter the rotation and which are you guys most excited about?

If we are one of few schools without sports this fall/winter we may see a flood of transfers out

I also have high expectations for Dickinson-in 2-3 years. I cannot imagine Hunter making the transition to top college ball in one year. Of the in-coming freshmen, I believe Williams holds the most potential for early contributions. Of the transfers, at this time, I believe Smith is the only option. There are many unknowns about this roster-including who is actually on it and will they play the games.

Agree on Dickinson. When I see him play I don't see an immediate high level starter. Which is why losing Castleton is so frustrating!

Hunter is a kid that I think in a normal year gets spot time to get experience and get his feet wet behind a veteran starter. Like Teske.

Austin Davis' role last year is the perfect example, especially in how it grew as the year went on.

From Hunter, I would've said that role in year 1, in year 2 a full time starter, and in year 3 he'd be 1st or 2nd team All-B1G before leaving to become a pick in the 20's of the NBA draft.

As for the others...

Jackson - I see DeJulius, but starting back over.

Williams I see as a guy who will play all 4 years, extremely valuable player - Jordan Morgan level consistency. A guy everyone roots for and gets a shot to play in the league when it's all over.

Haven't seen enough on Howard.

Smith is a legit backup PG. Nothing more, nothing less IMO.

The kid from Wake is a legit backup SG, same not much more or less IMO.

Eastern is a situational player if he ever plays at Michigan. A defensive stopper, who can switch screens and guard multiple positions.

Losing Christopher still stings big time. He was an instant high level starter. Todd I think was as well, but a guy that wasn't as ready made and would've been more of a high level/role starter...Draymond on the Warriors. Not carrying a team, but perfect for that team and contributes like few do.

I don’t expect Hunter to be a huge contributor as a freshman. 12 mpg seems like the ceiling to me. Freshman bigs have a learning curve and the big ten is probably the most physical post conference. He still probably plays the most of all the freshman based on depth chart.

Biggest impact? Hard to tell based on the 2 transfers and their unknown eligibility for the coming year. So I guess has to be Mike Smith. Instant starter with some offense and some dog in his game.

Something went very wrong in the athletic department for Belien to leave the way he did...... to where he went to.
