Funny take on ND vs. Michigan rivalry from ND fan. (Note: Might be a repost from prior to the season, still a good laugh)
Before you say it... Yes this is my third post of the day!and overall. Spring term is very slow in Ann Arbor needless to say. I’m on a frenzy and I can’t be stopped!!! But actually I’m done after this post.
The idiot author of this article makes his case that Notre Dame is Michigan’s biggest rival because we set our attendance record when they played at Michigan Stadium.
What a self-absorbed ass. The world does not revolve around Notre Dame. This guy strikes me as the Andy Dwyer of Notre Dame.
Interestingly enough, MSU's attendance record was set against Notre Dame as well. And similar to UM, they've certainly never been our biggest rival and we no longer play them every year.
I am all for ND going full into the ACC and their biggest rival eventually becoming....oh....Wake Forest. I think that would suit them down to the ground, and serve them right somehow on behalf of the rest of us.
That was the part that killed me. Completely ignored the obvious. In 2011, the lights had just been completed, and a September rivalry game was the perfect opportunity to play our first night game. We played MSU on the road in 2011 and as we all know OSU is at noon. Nebraska was the only other plausible option. Additionally, I remember at the time Brandon wanted to play night games only every other year. Thus in 2013, given the success of the first night game and the Nebraska game in November (November night games not allowed), ND was the only option.
I actually like Andy Dwyer from the Parks and Recreation show.
if we’re going to pick any character from that show to relate to ND, lets pick Councilman Jeremy Jam. His demeanor fits that entire school and it’s fans to a T.
Maybe he meant Andy Bernard from the Office? That’s what my mind went to, not even realizing the last name was wrong
Crap, you’re right. I meant the ‘Nard Dog.
Crap, you’re right. I meant the ‘Nard Dog.
Michigan owns Notre Dame 24-17-1. That burns them up.
Actually, you are the only one who cares about stupid stuff like all-time records, especially when we count a win that happened in 1887 before ND even had a team. Nobody gives a crap about games played before cars were invented and the Civil War was barely in the rearview mirror.
Only desperate people pull out crap like that because they have nothing to answer for the fact that ND has won the last two meetings and we haven't beaten them since 2013.
Still working on that first point, I see. You must be pretty popular around here...
only desperate people would masquerade as my old college friend hammer. please pick another hobby besides trolling rival boards. maybe painting toy soldiers would be good for you?
Not only does Michigan lead the all time series they also have more all time wins and have a better winning percentage than Notre Dame. In college football being the winningest team ever matters. Notre Dame trails Michigan.
Does the all-time wins matter?
I suppose it's a matter of opinion...
This may perhaps be an unpopular opinion but I would trade 100 of those pre-World War 2 wins for 10 legit MNCs starting with Schembechler to now...
Yes, I'm jealous of Miami's 5 MNCs since 1983 and Alabama's 12 MNCs since Bear Bryant.
Are you mad, skippy?
You can keep all-time records but it is a really dumb measure of comparison. The game that was played between 1870-1930 wasn't even football as we know it today, it was basically rugby.
Alabama has a much better all-time record than Clemson but when Clemson beats Alabama in the Natty, you don't see Saban standing at the podium saying, "Oh yeah, well we beat Clemson 8 times in a row between 1892-1900 and have a much better winning percentage".
UM has more wins in the all-time series over Ohio State but Michigan hasn't really owned the series since before Hitler was in power. If Ohio State hadn't hired John Cooper they may well have owned the record by now.
Hell, Army is 5-4 all-time vs. Michigan. Do you consider Army the better team? Of course not.
Toledo is undefeated vs. Michigan all-time. Is Toledo the better program?
Appalachian St. is .500 lifetime vs. Michigan. I guess that means Michigan and App State rank the same all time huh?
Yep and Carthage vs. Rome is 0-0 right now.
Actually, pretend hammer, most people care about ‘stupid stuff’ like all time records.
The only desperation is from ND fans and trolls like you.
No rational person cares about all-time records. It's a pointless measurement. Rutgers has a winning record all-time if you go back to 1869.
'harbs' = ohio troll
I literally live 500 yards from Allmendinger Park.
is that a troll gathering place?
As do I. Does that qualify your opinions as valid in some way? Because mine are somewhat opposed to yours in this regard.
Wow, and they think WE are an arrogant fan base
Why in the F are we discussing a football article from August 2018?!?
This guy is a moron and it’s not worth posting this.
I will admit some very exciting games have come at the hands of Notre Dame. Notre Dame owes it's football existence to Michigan. What a spoiled child. What a narcissist view. Bo had it right: "The hell with Notre Dame". We certainly don't need them.
