eligibility of a certain Buckeye that I will not name...

Submitted by CipASonic on
I was reading Adam Rittenberg's blog-I know, big mistake, but I was bored- and he said that Justin Boren will be playing for the Buckeyes next year. Some one correct me if I am wrong, but I thought you had to sit out two years if you transferred to another Big Ten school... Is that true, or will we have to see that whiny a-hole next year?

IIRC, I thought it was two years if you took a scholarship and transferred within the big ten, but for some reason I think baby is paying his way through school so it was only one year since he isn't using a scholarship...

This isn't a "get over it" situation. Boren made pretty big stink.... NATIONAL stink... in trashing RR and UM when he left. No, this isn't a "get over it" sitch, dude. This is a "can't WAIT til he comes back to the Big House to hear the boos of 100K, then get his ass kicked" situation. Then we'll see who needs to get over what.

RR decided to give him his full release. RR could have been a d-bag and made him sit out two years. So that's another reason why Boren is a fucking piece of scum. RR GAVE HIM HIS RELEASE and saved him a year, but that POS Boren still trashed him on the way out. If ever it was appropriate to boo a college kid, this will be it.

It's not just that he is a buckeye. He is a buckeye turncoat. So for that he should be tarred and feathered. He is a poor excuse for a roadblock and I hope Big Will, Brandon Graham (insert favorite Defensive player here) puts a couple of potholes in this guy... Hmmmmm I wonder does that make me bitter. F$ck dem buckeyes!!!!

So Boren transfers to a school that is worse academically and loses his scholarship so that he can play OSU football, after playing at Michigan. Now, to some this would be an idiotic maneuver, however, I think that most believe that this is well beyond an idiotic thing to do. Good job Boren, and may you one day (namely when you're not drafted, as you are among the slowest and whiniest football players in the nation; and anyone who drafts you won't trust you to become a franchise player even if you were any good) understand what a monumental mistake you made.

If the Human Twinkie had just gone out with some class, I wouldn't have even minded him going to OSU. After all, if someone who can't hack the UM conditioning program goes to OSU, it bodes well for UM. However, the Twinkie's trashing of RR on the way out the door gave him permanent "persona non grata" status in my book. What I find ironic about his "family values" comment is that many players and recruits are raving about how much of a "family" the UM program is. In light of that, the Twinkie's opinion comes off as a classless tantrum thrown by a fat, spoiled brat who should have known better. I hope OSU has fun giving him his own training table. And if Tressel suddenly shows up for a game with one leg, or an assistant coach suddenly disappears from the face of the earth during a game in which Boren got hungry, we will all know what happened. New OSU conditioning program: ten laps around the horseshoe or one lap around the Human Twinkie. I just hope they can find a jumbo jet with a big enough door to take him along on road games.

You're getting your linemen confused. Alex Mitchell was the Human Twinkie. Boren was more like the Human Summer Sausage - undeniably meaty, but with a fat content that limited his nutritional value. Besides, everyone knows his official moniker is Mr. Plow.

He even LOOKS LIKE A TWINKIE!!!! With the "right" picture tone, his hair is twinkie-colored. Besides, there is a little bit of sustinance in a sausage. And I would love to see his name be "The Human Turnstile" after he plays UM.

Cosigned. People make him into a bigger deal than should be w/ this shit. It's immature. edit: even if he did "ask for it" (and he did), we don't want to sound like a friggin tUoOS message board y'all.

The funny thing about all the myriad comments here is that I don't remember Boren being fat, and Barwis had actually singled him out as being an extremely hard worker. He was an asshole about the way he left - I will admit that.

Just so everyone remembers - Boren left because Rod didn't want to offer a scholarship to his little brother. So Daddy Boren and Justin had a hissy and tried to set as much on fire as they could on the way out. I think the "Boren didn't want to work hard" narrative is overblown and secondary to the fact that Daddy Boren always dreamed of seeing his two corn-fed junior Borens on the field together, and Rod pooped in his punch bowl. Baby Boren, of course, signed an LOI with the Buckeyes this year, as a 6'0", 250lb, 3* ATH (other offers included Akron, Toledo, Kent State, Miami-OH, and Cincinnati. The Borens might do some amazing things on the bench press, but I don't think they're going to make a huge impact on the field (especially Zach, obviously).

When Brian examined this issue in depth, it was the scholarship issue, underwritten by a deep and abiding love of Ohio and snow plows, that seemed the primary reasons for J-Bore's receding hairline receding into the distance. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but this seemed the most plausible explanation. If you are, indeed, Daddy Boren or a close associate, then you tell me why the transfer papers were proffered.

The RUMORS (and I emphasize RUMORS) were that it ran deeper than that. Boren was, supposedly, allowed by Carr to go home on weekends every now and then to help his Dad with his business. Allegedly, Rich Rod put an end to that and it pissed off the Borens. That isn't where the infamous "family values" comment came from, though. Allegedly the swearing that went on by some of the coaches at the spring practices and winter workouts were more profound than most realized. The word "cunt" was, allegedly a favorite of a couple of the position coaches (supposedly, Frey & Tall) and it was shocking to most of the players as well as many within the athletic department. If you remember, Rick Leach mentioned in his now famous WTKA interview a couple of months back that even he was shocked at the language that was used by some of the coaches. Apparently, a number of players and even some of the parents (yes, the Borens were amonst them) went directly to Bill Martin and Rich Rod and asked that the language used by some of his coaches be cleaned up and Rich Rod obliged. I guarantee that many of you who just blew it off as Boren and some of the players complaining about the course language used by the coaching staff as being pussies and whiners wouldn't tolerate having a coach get in your face, scream at you and call you a cunt over and over again, IF that is, indeed, what went on last year. There are always more sides to the story than what we hear publicly.

Nobody asked for it, but here's my opinion anyway: - Calling Boren a fat human Twinkie is funny, but derives from the mostly misguided speculation that he didn't want to work hard under Barwis. Alex Mitchell is the one that loves pie. - Calling Boren a jackass is perfectly acceptable for the way he trashed the program on the way out. And there has got to be more to the "family values" thing than the swearing, especially if Jay is correct that the issue was taken care of by RR. Unless someone with direct knowledge of the situation tells me otherwise, it seems clear to me that the plowing thing is the main thing that led to his departure - after all, if all he wanted was a coach that didn't call him a cunt, there are 118 other I-A schools he could have transferred to. But, to say "I'm transferring because Rich Rodriguez won't let me go home and snowplow" really does make him look like a giant walking vagina. So to cover up for the fact that he couldn't man up and admit why he was leaving, he took abstract potshots at the program that don't really have much basis in fact except for in the little mind of Justin Boren. And no, I don't believe it's time to "let it go." It's not like we sit here and obsess over it all the time. But if the subject is brought up, I don't think it's at all immature to say: Fuck him. He hasn't even played a game for tUOS yet, let alone against Michigan, and I'm very much hoping Brandon Graham hasn't "let it go" either. Because if there's two things tUOS fans love right now, it's Justin Boren and that really bad picture of the '07 game with nobody blocking - and they forget that Boren is right there in the middle with everyone else, missing his block. Nothing would give me greater pleasure this season than for Boren to be embarrassed at the Big House this year.

Boren was not the only one that complained about the language. As I said, the rumor was that several different players and parents complained to Martin and Rich Rod about it. I think you are underestimating the use of the word "cunt." That is, arguably, the most derogatory name that you could call a person, in particular, another man. Not to mention that it was screamed repeatedly at some of the players. I'd say that you would have a whole different perspective on it if you were the one having to deal with a coach getting in your face and screaming it at you over and over again.

February 16th, 2009 at 2:30 PM ^

"Boren was not the only one that complained about the language." Which lends even further credibility to the plow story, because Boren was the only one to leave after spring practice. You'd think if the players complained to RR and RR cleaned it up like you said he did, Boren would have stayed, unless there were something else. Ergo, plows, not swear words, drove him out. Or plows plus swear words. Either way, Boren would have sounded mighty silly claiming he left because he would have to spend two more years not plowing the streets of Columbus. He'd look even sillier if he left claiming they swear too much and the rest of the players would be vouching that RR had cleaned up when they asked.

coming from a guy "bitching" about his coach on the way out. Let's see... "I don't like the way you talk to me", so he shows enough "class" to be one of a group of players who do the "right thing" and take the "moral high ground" and approach the coach to appeal for change... then decides to throw the "high ground" under the bus once he needs an excuse for leaving the program, and makes some snide remarks on his way out about the very same topic... Let's be real, I don't care how messed up of a PC world you come from, there is no way in today's world of: Little League parents fighting in the stands, 99% of kids knowing George Carlin's "banned words" by the age of 10, fraternity hazing/branding, etc; that a top-notch Div I caliber player hasn't had to deal with someone, coach or teammate, getting in their mug with "offensible" content, especially while their ball-sweat is dripping right on your forehead as they stand directly above you, screaming at you to hoist that bench press one more time... He didn't care about the kind of "family values" you're pointing out, it was his own PERSONAL FAMILY's feelings that were hurt because of all the other stuff (dissing li' Bro, the snowplow thing etc), and he did something a "cunt" would do and stabbed people in the back on the way out. If "that" is family values, he can have them.

Quick poll: In today's still homophobic, football mentality, sports type world, what do you think most guys would be upset about? Being called A) a "C" word, or B) a "quitter" i.e. not worthy of their roster spot Maybe that "C" word would devistatingly offend types like Miss J on "America's Next Top Model", but most battle-scarred football leatherheads, uh no. I will guarantee you that the player/parent discussion with RR didn't focus on any particular word, as opposed to an overall "abusive theme".

Believe what you want. It's very easy for Mr. Internet Tough Guy to sit there and say what he believes would and would not offend a certain player. I guarantee you that even the "Miss J" or "America's Next Top Model" types as you put it, are much tougher than you could ever hope to be, but hey, enjoy insulting 20 year olds if that's what gets you off.

I didn't say the the use of the word "cunt" specifically led to to Boren's transfer. I said that there were a couple of different things that, allegedly, led to him leaving Michigan. The "family values" comment was (allegedly) largely due to the course language that some of the coaches were using in practice, with the use of the word "cunt" probably being the most crass and egregious.

I first read about it on a blog, I don't have the link to it and I can't remember which one it was. I'll check my computer when I get home to see if I saved it. One of the local sports talk show hosts talked about it as well. I want to say it was Art Regner (who is a Michigan grad and has some contacts within the administration) that talked about it one day when he was filling in for one of the regular hosts on WDFN.

Football players don't get to the major college level because they can't take being yelled or sworn at as a motivational ploy. Sorry, but if you are one of the toughest people in the world, thus being fit to have a scholarship at an elite school, you should tough it out if you don't like it. If you don't like being called any bad name, then work harder and prove the coaches wrong. And there is no proof or documentation that anyone was called a cunt "in their face, over and over again." By extension, though, you could say that there is no underestimating the degree of insult in the word "maggot" and that a Marine would be right to complain about hearing it from his drill sargeant, over and over again. What is my point here? There are two: 1. It is no accident that US Marines are by far the toughest sons of bitches you will ever meet. 2. It is really obvious to anyone that UM had gotten "soft" under Lloyd Carr, and were in severe need of a pattern interrupt; they got one. So, if RR and staff wanted to use the same kind of motivation and training that the US Marines often use to toughen up a chronically underachieving talent base, I am all for it. And Justin Boren can kiss my ass. If he isn't too busy eating.

In one paragraph you accuse someone of being "Mr. Internet Tough Guy", then go on to claim that an effeminite runway fashionista is "tougher than 'that guy' could ever hope to be". You amuse me with your irony. P.S. I don't "get off" on insulting 20 yr old kids. In fact, I believe we need more guys like Tony Dungy in the world. I merely pointed out that at some poiint along the way he's likely encountered it. If it was suddenly SO MUCH WORSE that it became unbearable, to the point that he felt called to remove himself from it, he should have displayed the same maturity and sophistication on the way out. He belittled his own cause by lashing out. Therefore, I do believe he deserves the ridicule he's getting. Also, I bet you anything that the OSU gang he went to isn't a whole lot better; in fact, they're probably hazing the "Michigan" out of him right now, and refering to the Wolverines as a bunch of "P"'s as we speak. If you think otherwise, you watch different footbal than most of us.

Tater

Does that mean that anyone who doesn't share your opinion is "ridiculous and pathetic?" I don't know what message boards you have been reading, but the main purpose is to exchange opinions. A divergent opinion isn't "pathetic;" just an opinion different than yours. As for "ripping a 20 year old kid," Boren opened himself to well-deserved criticism when he left UM so classlessly. And, to be honest, I like to make fat jokes and cannibal jokes about him. He is such a POS that it is just too much fun. I don't dwell on it or obsess on him, but whenever his name is brought up in forums, it makes me laugh and want to "contribute" in my own way. And you gotta admit that the Human Twinkie invited more criticism with his Halloween costume. I suppose that, by your standards, everyone who gets involved in rivalry trash talk is "ridiculous and pathetic," because most of the trash talk involves the 20 year old kids on the respective teams. And I suppose that anyone who criticizes the Human Twinkies of the world on these message boards is ridiculous and pathetic," too. Maybe you should back off from the "ridiculous and pathetic" stuff and be a little less judgemental to your fellow fans. Just a suggestion.

Yes, Justin Boren is a POS because he dared to transfer to Ohio State. Unbelievable. Just. Fucking. Unbelievable. What a fine person you are. I'm sure that you're destined for great things in life.
