"Demar Dorsey, a highly touted safety from Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., High School, is apparently going to play football at the University of Louisville. A four-star recruit, Dorsey was pursued by several major programs before choosing Michigan over Florida State in February."

Personally, I wish him the best.  Obviously Louisville doesn't have the academic standards of Michigan.  I believe they are overlooking questionable coursework but they can make that stretch, Michigan can not.  We are the leaders and the best and we will thrive.

Go Blue!

Good Luck to Demar at Louisville.  I hope he can make the most of the opportunity that is given to him and succeed in football or whatever he chooses to do with his life.

Dorsey is not a Michigan Man, and by calling him that it cheapens the effort of all the students and student athletes who did what needed to be done to get it. For if Dorsey wanted to play here bad enough he'd have done what it takes to pass the admissions requirements which are quite reduced for athletes, a bare minimum. Rodriguez told him well in advance.  He knew what he had to do to make it and procrastinated too much, perhaps too busy working on his Rick James emulation video.

However, if he decides to transfer to us after making the grade, in the future, then I will call Dorsey a Michigan Man.

What do you know about what RR told DD and the requirements he needed to fulfill in order to get to UM? Where did you get the information that he procrastinated too much to make it happen? I would like to hear this because it sounds like your are just talking out of your ass here.

Also, UM doesn't lower it's requirements to the ":bare minimum" obviously. I mean, lets think about it for a minute.....If UM's requirements were the bare minimum why didn't he get in here but did at Louisville. He qualified as far as the NCAA is concerned. Those are the bare minimum so we are obviously higher than that (why....I have no idea).

Anyway, like others I wish this guy the best and will follow his career closely. I really wanted him to come to UM but as others have said, I guess it is time to move on. Good Luck DD!

Relax Yarmouth..

-I saw an interview with RR saying that he told Dorsey he still has alot of work to do to qualify. Obviously it wasn't done, was it.

-The admissions standards for football athletes are far less than for a regular student.

-Why did he get accepted to Louisville and not UofM?  I can't believe you asked this... well... obviously the admissions standards at UofM are higher than at Louisville. Did you attend UofM?

-Brandon implied that Dorsey cut corners to improve his test scores. Read the article in the Detroit News.

I wanted Dorsey to come to UofM in the worst way, and still hope he does the work necessary to be accepted as a transfer. But i will not call him a Michigan Man, nor should anyone else.

I am always relaxed, but my points are valid and it seems you forgot what you wrote in your post.

Your response says "RR said he told Dorsey he still has a lot to do to qualify" which is a far cry from your original statement that said RR told DD exactly what he needed to do to qualify.

In the next portion you totally make the point I made in my post, which is that UM doesn't lower it's standards to "the bare minimum" (which would be the NCAA standard). YOU were the one who said UM lowers it's standard to the bare minimum and then respond to me saying he got into UL because they had lower standards than  UM.....That was my point and a total contradiction on your part.

I am not arguing with you about calling DD a Michigan Man but I won't fault someone for doing it. I am debating the contents of your post which seem quite flawed.

Lastly, no I didn't go to UM but not to be an ass, would likley have been accepted there had I the desire to pay the tuition an international student would have to pay. What does going to UM have to do with having the ability to point out BS when one sees it anyway?
