I was just about to say slow so far and then Bale has a huge chance. Atletico certainly isn't the same without two of their better players. they certainly don't have the depth of their wealthier counterparts.

Real is about to comeback and win this . That goal was a fluke . I hate Real but I think they will win. They just didn't finish in the 1st 45'

Saw something on reddit showing both Ronaldo and Bale are paid more than the entire Atletico team. Looking forward to (probably) seeing Costa and (maybe) Courtois and Luis on Chelsea next season.

Hopefully Atletico can pull this off. But I'm afraid penalties are their only chance as they haven't been threatening for a while. Either way, with a pay roll that is less than QPR's (who won promotion to the Premier via playoffs earlier today), their season has been an incredible accomplishment. They won La Liga so at least they won't go home completely emptyhanded.

Feels like the FA Cup final between Arsenal and Hull. Just a matter of time before Real seals it IMO.

Wow these guys really make themselves look like assholes after they score.  If someone tried that shit in hockey, it would get ugly quickly.

Atletico was done, they had to make a substitution only 9 minutes into the game and Juanfran was injured and limping for both overtimes, It was really just a matter of making it to the penalty kicks or flame out trying.

Athletico plays with the defensive intensity and grit of a great NHL team. What a turn around in a only a couple years. I hope their team doesn't get raided by the mega teams. For Real Madrid DiMaria was the difference maker and they are deserving champs. Can't wait to see them play in A2.

Currently living in Spain. The entire country has basically exploded (metaphorically). Crowds spilling out of every bar into the streets and people hanging from car windows trailing flags as they scream team songs. It's nuts here.

To go to extra time (let alone win the league) against a team who paid more for Gareth Bale and Ronaldo (seperately, not combined fee) than Atleti put into their entire roster is a terrific accomplishment. They put it all on the line for regulation, you could just tell they weren't going to have what it took to win in extra time. Major kudos to them though.

Gotta say that celebration after the PK by Ronaldo and co. made me sick. Atletica was dead in the water. Physically drained with 2 backs hurt and the game was over. It was classless. I don't know if there is bad blood between the 2 teams since I don't follow La Liga at all but I wasn't impressed. I really hope the US stuns Christiano and the Portugal team next month.

I am willing to forgive it a tad because he was in his home country and that will probably be the only chance he has to play a Champs League Final in Portugal. And you are only going to score so many UCLF goals in your career. I think it was unnecessary too, but not to a douche level IMO.

But I still hope we take him down.

Viva Madrid! Great game and a valiant and chippy effort from Atleti. They successfully parked the bus for 93 minutes. Really surprised that Bale missed those couple of chances earlier in the match and Iker's mistake was a big one. In the end the better side won. Atleti just did not have the depth and quality to produce chances but their back line was phenomenal. They play a borderline illegal brand of defending in terms of physicality but you can only marvel at their success given their budget this season. Simeone seems like a fiery players' coach and will end up at a bigger club soon. Los Blancos decimated German football on the way to this title and are definitely deserving champions. Great game!

I don't think they parked the bus outside of the last 20 minutes of regulation. They played great, physical defense, but that doesn't mean they parked the bus.
