Can we get a Jazzmar Clax update?
Over the last few days, we have read about Pharaoh and Leviticus. But what about Jazzmar? In terms of the all-name team, this guy is the clear winner, not to mention a probable 4-star LB prospect with lots of big time interest.
For our recruiting experts (Tom most prominantly), I know that the previous staff had shown interest in Jazzmar Clax. Has there been any indication that Hoke has looked at his tape or shown any interest? Can you imagine the name Clax on the back of a Michigan jersey?

thanks for the productive response

Can't it be both?

Although his name is great, I'm not sure how good of a prospect Jazzmar Clax actually is. He isn't on the Rivals 250 list, and while that doesn't mean everything, I think Mattison will only be targeting elite linebackers in this class.

I opened up my email yesterday to find out that Jazzmar Clax was following me on twitter. I almost fainted. Easily made my week.

That's an amazing feat! Congratulations! The recruits are now stalking you. How does that feel?

Glorious.

Man, the fun you could have with his name if he was a big time hitter. "He never saw old Freighttrain Clax comin' down the tracks" and that's just his last name...

It is awesome that you are actively on twitter giving us updates on recruits around the country. My one hope is that you are not going to turn into those creepy guys on twitter who try to talk to HS players.

There's a big difference between what I do and what they do. I never engage recruits in conversation, trying to sway them one way or another. Besides being annoying to the kids, I don't consider it to be a fair input to the kids. I've had a couple kids contact me, but I've never initiated.

It would also be a recruiting violation if you tried to sway them.

..a violation in the same sense that the thousands of people who wrote on Cyrus Kouandjio's wall trying to sway him one way or another was a violation.

Push them recruits on the highway to A2.

This class has the potential to be the best named class in the history of the universe, no question.

What about those of us who just think it would be cool to have "Jazzmar Clax" written on a depth chart?
February 10th, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
Jazzmar Clax, they opened for Crystal Method in 1999.

I thought that was Junkie XL.

...Clax, but there's this about Payne:
SWiltfong247 Southfield (Mich.) High coach Tim Conley says CB Leviticus Payne could be close to a #Michigan offer. #Iowa and #Toledo have already offered
February 10th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
Damn. At the rate we're offering seemingly interested Michigan/Ohio/Illinois HS players, this class could be full by mid-Summer.

...for forcing the issue with some of these kids. "So thanks for visiting us here at Schembechler Hall. We've got one remaining scholarship available for a [position]. So, what do you think? Are you the final piece our puzzle?"

That is what basically happens at Texas after their junior days.
February 10th, 2011 at 9:40 PM ^
Yeah, except Texas doesn't ask.
February 10th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
Sorry, Leviticus Payne still wins the name battle for me
February 10th, 2011 at 10:23 PM ^
Absolutely. Haven't seen a better name in this class IMO.

With Justice, Jazzmar, Leviticus and Pharoah. We need all of them.
