C'mon Sparty....

C'mon Sparty....finish the deal in the second half. A win would be a huge boost for the conference and would help set the tone for a 2009-2010 Renaissance season for the Big 10. I think its important that during a season where the league was clubbed--without evidence--that it was a bad league, it would be cool to see a Big 10 team in a Big 10 city for the Final Four. It would cap a nice postseason for the league. But, more importantly, the Big 10 needs to look as strong as possible.....strong enough that a .500 league mark will get you into the tourney....and with all the talent coming back into the league, on the heels a nice post season with a final four participant.....i just think it would set the league up for a great year. Of course, maybe the best reason is that if MSU wins, my total wins bet on the Big 19 in the tourney will cash.....already have 7, so there's no risk of losing, but a win is obviously so much better.

Izzo's teams have an uncanny ability to win these coin-flip games during tournament time. It is to the point where I expect them to win every game, but by no more than 4 points.

The Big East already has 2 teams in with the possibility of one more after this game. It would be nice to see some variation, conference-wise, in the Final Four. I'm sure you could also make an arguement of how it would help out the Final Four in selling seats at Ford Field if there was a "Home" team there.

Izzo isn't the same coach he used to be. He and the MSU basketball program are slipping. They aren't elite anymore. End of sarcasm

I have MSU going to the final four in my bracket. Their path up until this Louisville game was so easy, I couldn't find a reason to have them lose anywhere as much as I wanted to.

I can easily see UConn or Nova beating MSU. The other two big east teams are playing at a much higher level than Louisville has been this tourney. Edit: My bad. I will say this the guard matchup between UConn and MSU will be awesome.

Even when they were down, State was controlling the tempo. They've forced their style on Louisville, and Louisville simply hasn't had an answer. I think it took its toll in the second half. It helps that Suton went nuts in the first half, he was about the only guy hitting shots for them for a long stretch. Pretty impressive to win by so much over the #1 overall seed that you can put in your bench scrubs for the last minute.

I don't think those things can predict that. The fact that UL doesn't play defense doesn't bode well if they get matched up against a team like Wake. Maybe my claim was bit stretched, but I still believe UL got seeded too high, and people just got obsessed with the whole #1 overall thing.

Ville was the number one seed before the tourney started. I would differ with you by saying,Conn was the weakest due to the fact they lost of their phenom starting pg. I don't think they are weak...just ran into a buzz saw today. One thing of note...being in the double-bonus as early Ville found them myself...I am quite mystified why were they throwing up treys when they should have been going to the hole? Pretty Rick coaching performance today wasn't what I expected...

In general, I think the better strategy for us is to improve our program to be able to compete with top-notch programs, as opposed to wishing failure upon our in-state rivals so that our current level of mediocrity will be sufficient. Mediocrity referring specifically to facilities and general neglected-stepchild status of the bball program... not knocking personnel.

All I could think about while watching the game today was how much better Michigan would've been had Goran Suton, or, a similar type of player was wearing the maize and blue this season. He's the exact type of big man that we need for Beilein's system. That kid stepped up big time today for Sparty.

you're out of your damn mind if you thinks this helps us. Guess where Trey Ziegler is going when he enrolls? But hey, B10 is better off! Woo! Idiots.

the seeding is over. purdue getting spanked at home by duke, michigan state getting embarrased in detroit by north carolina and ohio st. getting annihilated at home by west virginia hurt the big tens rep and seedings. louisville was exposed by minnesota earlier this year and that went a long way towards reinforcing michigan states hopes to defeat an overrated cardinal squad. this victory had nothing to do with the quality of the big ten this year and had everything to do with the perception in the state of michigan that msu is still the school of choice for 4 star in state talent.

can you please provide me a counter statement with how this isn't zero sum? We have a prospect in-state that is going to msu. We have recruits who are probably now looking at msu that weren't considering them before, that will be of talent Michigan never had a chance at, and they will be used as weapons against us.
