Baseball eliminates 1 seed Minnesota in B1G Tournament

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

We sent Minnesota packing in the elimination game the last time we played them in this park for the B1G Tournament.

We have to do it again.

5 Michigan vs 1 Minnesota in a B1G Tournament Elimination Game on BTN right now.

Oliver Jaskie gets the start for Michigan.

LET'S GO BLUE!!! We need to win this game to lock up an at-large bid.

EDIT: MICHIGAN WINS!!!

did NOT see this comeback win coming...FINALLY we win one of these type games..This win might just be enough to secure a NCAA bid. We were the last 4 in coming into the tourney acording to Baseball America and beating the reg season champs and #1 seed just might do it. Maybe this win will propel them to win the tourney!

Big big win. Got a little lucky, take advantage and make some noise in the post season. Should get in to the NCAA tourney now

Finally. That was a win we've needed for a long time. Beating a good team and holding onto the lead.

We'll play the loser of the 5 Ohio State/8 Iowa game tomorrow at 8:30.

A win Friday means that Michigan advances to the "bracket finals," which are essentially semifinals.  Michigan would then have to win 2 games in 1 day on Saturday--both against either Maryland or Michigan State.  The Saturday games would be at 2:00 and then at either 6:00 or 10:00 pm.

Winning the Friday game plus 2 Saturday games would put Michigan in the 1-game final on Sunday at 2:00.

by Hill for the save, especially when considering the steady rain and the resulting deteriorating field conditions Hill had to deal with.  Best available arm to bring in, but closer is not the role he's accustomed to.  With Michigan's season in the balance, he came thru with some big strikes, but got a huge helping hand when that scary tough liner down the 3rd base line was snagged for the 2nd out.

GO  B L U E !!!

They played them well all the way through, which put them in a position to win when Minnesota's pitching collapsed late in the game. It's a great win for this team and congrats to them.

Good news: it hasn't stopped raining in Omaha since our game finished up.

Why is that important? Well, there is supposed to be a game starting at 6pm between MSU and Maryland. Then after that, OSU will play Iowa that we get the loser of. That's supposed to be a 10pm first pitch.

The longer the rain continues, the farther those games get pushed back and the longer they have to play into the night.

I am kind of hoping that they end up postponing the late game today until noon tomorrow, so the loser of that game has to turn around (after a 4 hour break) and play Michigan.  Either way, this rain should keep falling.

That would be awesome.

I'm pretty happy we got the last laugh against Minnesota this athletic season. We've been trading punches all year, throughout multiple sports.

It looks like that the OSU-Iowa game is going to be played tomorrow.

They just said on BTN that they're hoping to get at least one game in tonight.

How 'bout them Dawgs?! Right now on ESPN 2, in their SuperRegional in Gainesville, Georgia has upped their lead over the Gators to 3-0, midway through the 6th.

Game will start no earlier than 10:00 pm EDT tonight, after the Indiana/Maryland game at 6:00 EDT.  Michigan State & Iowa won this morning and are the two remaining undefeated teams.

Michigan State will face the Michigan/Ohio State winner tomorrow for the right to go to the Sunday championship game.  Iowa will face the Indiana/Maryland winner.

LOL at OSU - dude for Hawkeyes came up with two outs, men on first and second, B9...kid hadn't had an RBI ALL YEAR...promptly drops an RBI single to tie up the game...then of course, the B10 was amusing.
