seems like OSU and Minn have swapped roles over the last 5-10 years. IU, as usual, is strong.
MSU, of course, looks like half their team drowned upon entering the H2O

Since 2000, here are the following champions:
Michigan - 8 (currently four straight, not including 2015)
Minnesota - 5 (last in 2007)
Indiana - 1 (2006)
Ohio State - 1 (2010)
For chuckles, State has finished last in all but two meets since 2000.

I'm not familiar with the scoring for Swimming. However it seems that a 81 pt lead going into the last day when UofM has been averaging 173 a day and OSU has been around 146 seems to be a pretty hard distance to overcome.
Can anyone explain the scoring to a rookie like me?
Go Blue!

Individual events, top 16 places score points. 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11 (championship final) and 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (consolation final).
Relays are scored double, basically: 40-34-32-30-28-26-24-22-18-16
Our lead is pretty safe, barring a meltdown.

Points are awarded based on place.
For a relay, 1st gets 40, 2nd 34, 3rd 32 and so on for the top 8 spots. The 9th team gets 18.
For an individual event, points are given based on the order you finish your heat in. This makes the prelims important, because if you do not place in the top 8 in prelims, the best you can finish is 9th regardless of your time. For the A heat, the points are 20, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11 and for the B heat they are 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
After the prelims, it'll be pretty easy to see if anyone has a chance to catch Michigan just based on how many A finalists we have. The one issue Michigan always has is that we have no divers that place, so we often lose ground in the diving events.
Personally, unless we get DQ'ed in a relay I don't think we can lose, but you never know.

I faintly remember IU being really competitive in swimming some years ago, yet today they seem to be getting waxed.

Two up / one down in 200 back, including top seed. Aaron Whittaker, who hadn't swum the 200 back all season, qualified seventh, swimming the seventh fastest 200 back in U-M history.

Two up / two down in 100 free - Bruno Ortiz with top seed, tying U-M record!

One up / one down in 200 breast - top seed to Richard Funk!

Last swimming prelim 200 fly - two up (1-2 seeds!) / one down
This is a good prelim session for us. Platform diving prelims are next - see you tonight! GO BLUE!!

We are seven up / five down for tonight's finals. I was going to do the math on seeing how we can clinch the championship over OSU, but I took a nap instead.
The mile is finishing up (last heat) now - three U-M swimmers in this heat. (The guys in the mile not included in the above up/down number).

2-4-7-12 in the mile for the Wolverines. We are up 578 to 462 over Bucks. And, someone from Penn State got DQ'd for false-starting, in the mile LOL

4-6-9 in the 200 back. U-M 615, OSU 510

100 freestyle: 1-7-10-16 U-M 655, OSU 540

I don't know the rule about how many guys can enter each event, or if there are even cut-off times to compete in the B1G meet (like there are for NCAA's). A quick glance at the 100 free entries (59 total) versus the 200 IM entries (66) says there is no rhyme or reason to the number of entries.

200 breast - 5-9...U-M 678 OSU 557
We're good to go as far as winning the championship is concerned. Just the 200 fly, platform diving and the 400 free relay (which we will win) left.
February 28th, 2015 at 8:53 PM ^
And boom goes the dynamite: First and Second in the 200 fly, and 12th...GO BLUE!!
U-M 720
OSU 582
It's over Johnny!!!!

Platform diving for a while, and then the 400 free relay. We cannot be overcome even if we score zero points in the diving (which we will) and the relay, and OSU maxes out their points.
Hail to the Victors! 5th straight B1G championship.

Hurray - the diving is over! 400 free relay coming up - final event
