No night games in November

If I remember correctly you can't play November night games in the Big Ten

Contrary to popular belief, there is no such rule prohibiting November night games in the Big 10. It's just seldom done.

Rittenberg refers to it all the time, and he's someone who doesn't usually go around saying things without a basis of fact. I say this because when the realignment announcement first broke, there was a rumor that any future B1G teams had to be in an adjacent state - and Rittenberg pointed out that he had never seen anything that validated that statement.

It's not a conference rule, but it is in the TV contract.

night games are scheduled very early in the season/preseason due to TV scheduling. So no.

Wasn't that a night game?
October 9th, 2011 at 1:16 AM ^
No that was a 3:30 start.

in late November can very easily turn into night games if the game takes long enough. I remember PSU '05 (I know, not Nov) went until after dark; they had to move the portable lights in.

That game was a rare 4:30 start. I might be wrong... I've tried to block most of that day from my memory.

Isn't the Big Ten Championship going to be a night game?
October 9th, 2011 at 4:32 AM ^
Lucas Oil. I'm pretty sure the Big Ten chose Lucas Oil over Soldier Field for the Big Ten Championship because Lucas Oil is indoors.

in November due to the temperature.

Fair enough, although we held The Big Chill in the middle of December at 3:30 and I don't remember any reports of patrons dying of frostbite from that day. Folks in the Midwest own warm clothes.

There's a difference between a hockey game with snow, and a game like NW a few years ago ('08?) where it went from rain to snow and my sopping wet clothes froze solid. Now imagine that at night. Snow is one thing; rain soaking you and then freezing all around you is another.

And to answer your other question that people seem to be ignoring: yes, Mell IS indeed sexy. You're welcome.

I never realized how that could be confusing.

Ya I was going to say that Iowa or Illinois could end up night games, but those are in November as well.
So if that rule really does exist, than no more night games.
And even if the rule didn't exist, there is no way Brandon would spring another night game at home this season. One per year at home will be the max. And I'm happy with that.

iowa will be a noon start
illinois will be a 3:30 start
nebraska will be a noon start
ohio will be a noon start.
Bo said that there will never be another 3:30 game in November at Michigan Stadium and there hasn't been one since. I can't remember after what game he said it, but the weather conditions were pretty frigid.
