2023 MGoPhotos of the Game (Week 9): Purdue Comment Count

BlueBarron November 5th, 2023 at 7:14 PM

In another universe, this would be that game that everyone forgets within a few days, much like Nebraska last year or Indiana in 2021. Go ahead, name three things that happened in either of those games.

But instead, due to /gestures at all of it, there was a lot of buzz going into Michigan's 2nd matchup with Purdue in 12 months. I knew what everyone was eager to talk about as I got to Ann Arbor. There was exactly one (1) Connor Stalions-esque joke to be made and within a couple hours of tailgating I heard it, or some derivative of it, probably 30 times. Rutgers must have Ohio State's signs- yup got it. Notre Dame needs to hire Connor Sta- YUP. GOT IT.

Even just going on Twitter for my hourly short-term loop of dopamine rushes is becoming insufferable. Rumors, lazy jokes, clickbait articles, and reporters dancing around the same three headlines for an entire week is just exhausting. Should I just post wildlife photos on Twitter this week? Do we need a week long timeline cleanse? I know we just had a bye week and that's when it should've happened but I was very much hibernating all bye week.

At some point I thought to myself "well at least as a photographer, nobody is relying on me for breaking news or hot takes. They just like pretty pictures.

SO HERE. HAVE SOME PRETTY PICTURES. MICHIGAN MOSTLY SPANKED PURDUE AND IT WAS AT NIGHT AND WE'LL ALL FORGET ABOUT IT BY WEDNESDAY. THERE WILL BE NO TALK OF ANYTHING ELSE BUT MICHIGAN VS PURDUE FROM HERE ON OUT. HERE'S YOUR FRONT PAGE CLEANSER.

NOBODY. TOSSES. A DWARF. [Bryan Fuller]
I escaped this encounter with my life. Barely. [Patrick Barron]

Look, a week from now we're going to have a lot to talk about. There will be all sorts of new Frames content and we can erase the "Michigan ain't played no one" narratives.

/glances at Twitter

YUP. LOTS OF PENN STATE STUFF TO TALK ABOUT. DID YOU SEE THEM STRUGGLING AGAINST INDIANA?

Me trying to block out the social media noise [Patrick Barron]

So yeah, some pretty pictures. The night lights were neat (I didn't shoot the Bowling Green game so this was my first opportunity). I mean... the landscape stadium lights were neat. There weren't many opportunities for celebration shots because, as it turns out, you can't really take photos when there is no light.

Anyways, Michigan gently placed Purdue in a trash can. That's all I have to say about the game itself.

That is no orc horn. [Patrick Barron]

Y'all wanted the season to start? It starts now. Buckle up.

Remember a few weeks ago when I said this season was like watching Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers?

I think we're at the part where the elves show up to Helms Deep.

About the Photographers

If you'd like to support us, one of the simplest things you can do is follow us on social media (links just below) where we post way more photos than here. In the offseason I also do a LOT of wildlife/national park photography. While we're not allowed to sell any of our sports photos per our credential agreement (sorry to anyone who reached out asking about one), I sell prints from my adventures which I sell on FineArtAmerica. You can buy prints (or just look at some pretty pictures) here: Patrick Barron Art Collections Or if you'd like, you can simply support me by buying me a coffee!

This is not a photo from the Big Ten Championship Game but I considered sneaking one in here to see if maybe I could get away with it. [Patrick Barron]

They yelled for 28 minutes and it spanned three episodes but they all finally achieved Super Saiyan form. Also Planet Namek is scheduled to explode in five minutes, or two months. I don't remember. [Patrick Barron]
You know Donovan cares about Blake Corum very much because he continues to spectacularly get the ball within the five yard line for Blake to score. Completely selfless player. This man plays we-fense. [Bryan Fuller]
A pair of legacy Wolverines here. Dale Chesson, younger brother of Jehu Chesson, and Kendrick Bell, younger brother of Ronnie Bell. [Patrick Barron]
Semaj Morgan doing everything in his power to secure the 'Michigan wins by more than 21 anyways so it doesn't matter' narrative and I appreciate him for that. [Bryan Fuller]
More like Pur-moo haha Patrick was this caption your best work. Are you ok. I want you to step away from the computer and come back when you're ready to take this seriously. [Patrick Barron]
I'm embarrassed by my last caption so here's a pretty picture with no clever caption. [Patrick Barron]

Absolutely love the pics, but the captions are the chef's kiss. And thanks for having the good grace not to mention the annoying fanboy who badgered you for intel when he sidled up to you in the end zone yesterday. :)

The one of the dancers with the hair standing straight up is incredible.

As Fat Amy would say, you "crushed it!"

(if you haven't watched "Pitch Perfect" at least ten times, you aren't doing life right)
