Hard to say what level of competition he's playing against in the video, but he's a decisive runner with nice ability to make quick cuts in traffic and in the open field.

I like him. And his brain.

Plays in Texas' 5A Div 1 (bigger schools) which is the highest level of competition in Texas HS.  Russell lost to Trinity High School the past two years in the playoffs.  Trinity has been top ten nationally last 5 years.

And yes - it is pretty serious.

to be a good athlete and has some speed.  I liked the throws in traffic over the deep balls to wide open WR's.  He also seems pretty good finding open WR's on the move.

I also think it's cool that one of the HS stadiums has a Walgreens at the stadium.   That makes it so easy to pick up some candy or a shake weight at halftime.

I for one am pretty excited that Brady Hoke is going after a dual threat qb. I feel like having a qb that is mobile is such an added benefit. Its even being seen the next generation of great QB's: Rodgers, Big Ben, and Sanchez are all mobile guys.

I wonder if anyone from Michigan ever scours the six-man leagues in Texas?  My son played in one and there are some "studs" that fly under the radar.  You talk about spread football...nothing like it.  I love it!

pretty impressive highlight film (sometimes these are misleading). I hope this kid turns blue - looks like her throws a nice ball and is mobile as well.

Also judging from his rivals profile, he is a genius - should have no trouble learning a complex playbook and understanding defensive coverages (assuming he is coachable)

I hate that Rivals divides the quarterback rankings between pro-style and dual-threat. At the end of the day they're quarterbacks and their job is going to be to throw the ball, unless they're going to play in a true option offense. Not all "dual-threat" quarterbacks are suited best for a spread.

I'm a Student Pastor here in Arlington and Russell is in my youth ministry.  A fine kid with some good talent.  He and I have bantered back and forth over the past year as he looked into MSU and Purdue (where he is currently committed.)  He didn't look at Michigan because of the spread as he can throw the ball and felt like at Michigan it was all about the legs.

Believe it or not, he has not mentioned to me that he is interested in MIchigan but he wasn't at church yesterday either, so if this ie new he may be wanting to mention it in person.

I, of course biased, would love to see him at Michigan.  He isn't gonna threaten Devin in the next year or two but he does have some skill.  Our student ministry hosted a flag football tourney at Jerry's World last month and Martin High School represented well with several Div 1 athletes.  Russell's team came in third of the 47 teams - actually beaten by the winning team (a bunch of Juniors/Sophomores from Arlington.)

EDIT: sorry for the long post.

Thanks for looking out for the Maize and Blue.

Let him know about Zingerman's, the weather in the Spring and Summer, that there is nothing better than a Fall Saturday with a home game and once you’re a Michigan man your always a Michigan man.   By the way the academics are pretty good too.  Those that stay will be Champions or Doctors or Lawyers.

I know West Lafayette and it's no Ann Arbor by a long shot.

That's very cool cjm.  And it wasn't too long, I've written posts that long without even saying anything worth reading.

It sounds like he trusts and respects you.  I think it's good of you not to be the guy who pushes UM just because you're a fan.  However, if he talks to you about it (as it seems he has in the past), it's certainly not out of bounds to let him know how amazing Michigan is and how we're better than Purdue in every way except boringness (maybe not that exact wording).  If you want to let him know many people who didn't know he existed yesterday are raving about him on the interwebs today, that would be cool too.

And of course, if you have any further information you'd like to share with the board or with me privately so I can share it with the board and take credit for it, you're more than welcome.

looks like a solid passer and come good athleticism. who is that kid at :55 seconds? broke a  few tackles and showed some good moves. And what do you think about our chances with Bellomy?

That's fine and dandy, but why are we chasing him when there are much better qb's out there. I believe borges and hoke have a particular qb in mind to fit their system and they will not look anywhere else. This is going to hurt us, and i'm trying to keep my tounge straight, but they are acting a certain way about this qb thing.

What i liked about RR is he didn't care who were as long as you can do the job and he broke the mold in michigan when it came to that qb. if you know what i mean.

Curious, what do you mean by this.  What kind of QB do you think they are looking for?  Is this kid similar to the QB they had at SDSU.  Also, this is the first QB they are looking at here.

Wait, what? How in hell are they supposed to "act?" Should they be "acting" like Rich Rodriguez? Jim Tressel? Nick Saban? Do you think that Hoke doesn't care if his QB "can do the job" or not?

I had come across the video before and can't remember where I saw it.  I just remember thinking this kid is really good and would be nice to have him.  It's crazy how things work out sometimes.

Bellomy  is not even ranked among the top dual-threat qb's. If borges and hoke want to go after a ranked d-t qb, why don't they go for Jacoby Brissett out of FLORIDA who's in the top 5 as far as d-t qb's go to                              .http://rivals.yahoo.com/Michigan/football/recruiting/player-Jacoby-Brissett-84272;_ylt=AqKMGdDdWuOosjEWYLuDQOBpspB4

fun fact I learned from ESPN (we all know how reliable they are!) is that North Carolina is recruiting him to play basketball. Since he is only a 2 star shooting guard, i think this may be a way to get him to play football as well ala Julius Peppers
