brown's not playing the hybrid OL (the 'spinner') or 'deathbacker'. he's playing the safety/linebacker one i think.
I think what they are doing is bringing Brown down from the safety position in their nickel packages to be a lb/safety. So it is more of a coverage scheme than anything else. At least that is how it sounded to me.
You meant hybrid LB, right? Bringing a guy from safety to the offensive line is a pretty big move.
I guess I was thinking Outside Linebacker abbreviates to OL. but i probably shoulda put OLB
There's still time to edit the thread title!
anyone see gbmw today? there was alot of good stuff on it. they said vlad was the starting safety and he looked to be the best safety. according to them, "it wasnt even close"
Our safeties will be young and inexperienced. Smith, Michael Williams and Justin Turner will see a lot of time there, imo.
OL=Offensive Line
OLB=Outside Linebacker
UK=Kentucky
KU=Kansas
I'm the worst texter in the world so this makes me proud, I'm ready for the weekend.
With the supposed 3-4 scheme the defense is going to use, will B. Graham loose some of his effectiveness? I don't know too much about the 3-4 scheme
to be honest i'm not too sure what you would call it
No matter where he ends up this year... Stevie Brown has a lot to prove to more than a few people.
Its sort of a 3-1-2-5 look if you will.
I agree that it is a 3-1-2-5! I think that is the appropriate way to describe the defense this year with this personnel. It will not always be like this. I think it will change depending on the team.
I think this is a great D to use, not only to battle other speed oriented teams, but also to best utilize our personnel. With so many of the LB/S sorts that we've been bringing in, this could be an exciting way to line 'em up.
Did someone just say Vlad is looking like a starting safety and "it's not even close" ?
wow, so evidently he's not just back from the injury... he's a phenom too. sweet
This would be awesome if it were true--but it is probably not.
Why do you say that?
It is just a very strong statement, and it is also kind of random. Again, if it is true, than that would be great--but we will see.
So you really aren't saying it probably isn't true, just that you have your doubts. The poster who made the comment had evidence from an article. Flimsy as that may be, it's more than just a gut feeling.
You coming in with no evidence whatsoever, saying "that's probably not true" is the least compelling way to make an assertion.
Also, why is it so hard to believe? We've had terrible safety play, and we brought in a highly rated safety who enrolls early. That doesn't sound so far fetched to me.

From guys at practice this week.
"There were several surprises today -- some huge surprises that will take some explaining. Starting safeties (Thursday) were Woolfolk and Vlad. Yes, Vlad as starter. He looked, on Thursday, to be our best safety -- not even close."
los barcos said it was on GBMW
I remember reading that without the injury Emilien would have been 5 stars or something... but is he really eclipsing the competition?
anyone else hear that?
Woolfolk at Safety
Turner at CB
Emilien far and away the best Safety?
i love surprises
