it is mentioned that one thing keeping him in Tampa is his son will be a senior in hs and plays qb and lb.  It also says Gruden helps coach and that he is still being paid by Tampa from his previous contract.  Money (because he is still being paid and therefore is not hurting with the MNF gig too) and family (son's football) appear to be some obstacles for any coaching position for him.

Not only that but why set ourselves up for the proverbially dong punch that will occur when we get our hopes up and realize we were just being dumbasses for thinking it was possible.

My family had a similar situation where I was a senior in high school and my father moved for a new job until we moved out with him after graduation. It wasn't ideal, and I don't know all the ins and outs of Gruden's responsiblilities there, coaching, etc, but I don't think it's a total deal breaker.

A fun thing about a Gruden hire:

NDNation would go absolutely batshit.  He's been their impossible dream for a good decade now.

Oh, and also Jim Delany has just updated the Big Ten division names to the Funktastic Division and Crumbelievable Division.  And also touchdowns will henceforth be referred to as "sweet sticks," sacks will be called "bedazzles" and timeouts will be known as "me moments."

he allegedly just turned down 7 per from miami. but miami aint no michigan! err... we can hope anyway.

maybe those interviews he did with the top qbs' in last year's draft gave him the college football bug.

no doubt it'd be awesome. just not going to get my hopes up on this one.

All I have to say is before we just post "Nothing to see here" we should at least give it a listen. Because the last time we had things like "nothing to see here" and "dead horse" posts was about the possibility of our coach being fired. So lets learn and not just blow stuff off because we think it is unlikely.

comments from Ross on his conversations with JH for those who care...

"Harbaugh wanted to go to the NFL, but he wasn't exactly sure. He asked me, 'What should I do?' I recommended, 'Go back to Stanford and hitch yourself to the quarterback. You've got the best quarterback. You can win the national championship. The pros will be there.'

So for those keeping score at home, do we have 1 bit of evidence that Gruden is a candidate besides J. Hammond's tweet?  Anything other than that?

The story came from some radio station in Cleveland a couple days ago. I twittered it to find out if there was any truth to it, but no one answered me.

WKNR 850 AM out of Cleveland Ohio reported Gruden to interview for job... Kenny Roda and Michael Reghi said so, any truth @?

I tweeted that on 6 Jan to Tom... No answer, lol.

Look - I'll bite.  A guy who's been on national television for the last 2 years broadcasting MNF, with his personality, would be the cat's meow on the recruiting trail.  I mean, who wouldn't want to play for that guy?  Shows up with his super bowl bling, gets up at 3:17 am to watch OSU film...I get it.  But unless Tirico has been working some Jedi Mind tricks in the booth, I just don't see us prying him out of the booth.  He just looks like he's having too damn much fun.

I can't really see that this would be a bad idea.  He would be a good face for the university, great to sell the "brand", and would be great in recruiting.  His hiring of coordinators/assistants would be the tell all on if he will succeed.  This is just my two cents.

would lead me to believe it is false. The guy works for them, if anyone would know about an interview it would be ESPN and yet nothing about it from them at all that I can find. Seems hard to believe that if this were true ESPN would let others break the story...
