And yes they include both the Harbaugh brothers!
Enjoy

...Brady Hoke is around 52-53, I can't see him staying longer than 15 years, unless he pulls a JoePa, which hasn't necessarily been a good thing with the actual JoePa.

Who will coach us next?
I guess we'll burn those bridges
When we come to them
January 6th, 2011 at 6:48 PM ^
Why dosen't Bill Cowher come on dahn Michigan and instill some hard edge Stillers Defense n' at...I would love that much more than John Harbaugh...Pittsburgh toughness yinz!!! Go Blue!!

Let's consider the possibility of hiring the Stanford defensive coordinator - Vic Fangio. Defensive Coordinator of the year! If JH goes pro, here is our chance to get JH's main man for DC. He can address our pressing needs to improve our defense - unlike GERG.

Just curious what the thoughts are on Cam Cameron...
Sure his stint at Indiana didn't go so well, but he has experience with a 'dual threat' QB and put up some huge numbers that year offensively... and he's been around the Raven's D for a while so some of that defensive mentality has to have rubbed off on him
... and he coached under Bo

Cam Cameron is an interesting thought. The only issues with him are that his most recent Head Coaching foray with the Dolphins ended one season in with a total of zero wins. Yikes! He is also very old to be taking over the program.
One conspiracy theory regarding Cam Cameron being the next head coach of Michigan. It was reported that John Harbaugh contacted Michigan about the head coaching vacancy, showing interest - which lit up the MGoBoard. I would highly doubt that the Head Coach of a playoff team, playing a game this weekend would be inquiring about the job for himself, but perhaps he may have been calling to recommend his current offensive coordinator Cam Cameron?

1. Jim Harbaugh (I am not giving up hope)
2. Les Miles
3. Pat Fitzgerald

Okay, look at the facts.
- DB said something in the meeting that "lifted a weight" off the players shoulders. My guess is that it was something along the lines of "we'll be pursuing a few coaches from top ten programs."
- Stoops runs an offense that is "adaptable" to the players he has around him.
- Stoops is from Youngstown, Ohio and therefore understands the history of Michigan and the rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State.
- He just won a BCS game with Oklahoma (finally) and may now feel ready to move on.
- Brandon said he had "unexpected" candidates. This would certainly be unexpected and high profile enough to energize the fan base and players.
- With Nebraska and Colorado leaving the Big 12 the conference is about to become much less high profile and Stoops might be thinking a bolt to the new B1G would be an upward move.
Just food for thought.

Very interesting thought!
January 6th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
Perhaps they were referring to this when lifting the weight off...

Ryan Broyles just announced he is coming back...I don't know but it's just MO, but OK is going to be loaded next year. No way Stoops leaves that job for a rebuild at UM

Also I just looked some Stoops info up and it turns out his agent (who is located in Cleveland) WENT TO MICHIGAN!!!!
Giddy up!!

The previous post was my wishlist! Sorry.

One name that flashed through my head today was Bud Foster. I don'tm think he has any HC experience, but the man can run a defense like nobody's business, has been around plenty of spread stuff at VT with the Vicks and Tyrod Taylor, and would make a very positive impression on the fanbase.

I honestly don't know who the coach will be or what coach I want. I don't want Hoke but that's about where my criteria stops.
January 6th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
He helped Michigan defenses! PPG was no higher then 21 while he was there.

I realize this is a blog where opinions flow freely, often with very little grounding in fact, but really? I just don't like X? He may well be our next coach. Please help us all by posting something that informs or enlightens rather than just expresses a baseless opinion. There were plenty of "I don't like RR" posts in media when he came and I really don't want to live through that again.

Seriously. From Gary Patterson's current Wikipedia page:
"After a successful career at TCU, Patterson left the program on January 6 to become the head coach of the University of Michigan football team. He stated his need for good, discounted pizza as a main reason in accepting the offer."
January 7th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
patterson just signed an extension with TCU
January 6th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
Well, hiring Patterson would lift my spirits, but hopefully his taste is good enough to seek a better pizza than Domino's.

Do you think we have a realistic shot at Jon Gruden? IMO, I doubt it, but i was just wondering. I wish this would all be over.
January 6th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
I keep seeing all this Jon Gruden love flowing and for the life of me I don't get it?
I've seen his mostly above average, rollercoaster-like record in the NFL (including a Superbowl courtesy of Tony Dungy).
College experience?
Sorry, being an assistant 20 years ago just doesn't cut it.
January 6th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
Why Gruden? He has no substantial college experience. Nevermind that it's been a while since he even coached pro. Let's not fall in love with a guy just because he's famous.
It would be like an NFL team throwing $7 million a year a guy who's never coached pro.
January 6th, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
or any of my top 5 candidate at all. I am in the same boat as you, as I was really curious to where this random Jon Gruden talk has come from and i was asking if it was an actual possibility or just random thinking by a partly delusional fan base.

Rex Ryan's twin brother or Gary Moeller"s son Andy, they are both employed by the NFL, a google search will get you contact information. DB should have united the masses to jump on the RR train when he arrived, hope this mess clears up soon.

Source says Michigan tried to meet w Fitzgerald, but he came off road to meet w NW AD and reaffirmed committment.

Harbaugh to the 49ers
Fitzgerald no interest
Patterson signs extension
Miles is slimy
Hoke is, well, Hoke.
Boy, this is really going well. Next on TWIS: us.
