....not even my surprise or genuine interest level in anything Toney Clemons-related.
Good luck to him. Let's be honest. He wasn't going to play one meaningful down this year, and if he did, the bowl-less streak would only be extended to 2 years.
I didn't know you were part of the coaching staff. That's super.
.... remote couch coaching staff in suburban St. Paul, MN. No pay, and no accountability but I can pontificate without justification or fear of reprisal.
Those are some excellent benefits.

He might as well go somewhere that he'll get a better shot. I look at it this way, if true: One more WR spot open, one more schollie open. Or if he stays, more power to him in getting that degree! Either way, good luck to him.

That Poole1Dan guy on YouTube is going to be pissed.

that guy is a piece of work. the youtube messages he used to send me... dear lord
March 23rd, 2009 at 12:34 PM ^
i got into a private message flame war with him because he said RR only recruits unathletic skeletors. I told him that not only is that wrong (Will Campbell is big, right?) but that the little guys had big time offers. Well apparently big offers mean nothing, he said. Yeah....who would want guys that Florida or USC would want. NOT ME!

Lot of rumors he is gone, strangely it doesn't sound messy or anything just a parting of the ways. Sounds like maybe he just wasn't that good or the right fit for RR and wanted to try somewhere where he has a better opportunity to play.

.....so that I don't have to read online that Rich Rod has a problem with "family values" or that "an inordinate amount of players are transferring from Michigan," these guys all remain on the depth chart, regardless of slot or wide:
Stonum
Matthews
Hemingway
Odoms
Feagin
Roundtree
Robinson
Gallon
Stokes
Gordon
Shaw
and I'm probably forgetting a few. Michigan will be fine.

Oh, no doubt. I don't think anyone here was insinuating that Clemons was a star player and would be missed. Plus, the added scholarship for 2010 will be nice.
March 23rd, 2009 at 12:45 PM ^
and given that we've got 4 WR commits right now for 2010 we'll be fine. I'm just trying to pre-empt any feigned concern due to a 3rd-stringer transferring out.

RR had to get his guys in ASAP. I am guessing he has overrecruited at WR/slot to find enough guys who can play right now instead of waiting two or three years for guys to pan out. Once he gets his system and personnel set, I look for a lot less attrition.
However, there is always the possibility that the personnel to which he had access at WVU was so bad that he has been like someone who was trapped on an island for seven years who has just been walked to a Hilton Buffet table and told to eat whatever he wants: the subsequent result being a gorge-fest.
Either way, UM will be fine. And I agree with those in other threads who feel that he isn't recruiting all of these WR/slot guys just to block or play decoy for a running QB. I think his Pat White teams have made people forget that he created the spread option from the run and shoot and not the veer option.
I think that we will see a lot of balance at UM, and a lot of unpredictible play-calling. And, of course, a lot of success.
Is this the end of ToneClem TV on facebook? I need my David Cone rhymez bitches!
That's my biggest worry as well.
Isn't Clemons Terrelle Pryor's cousin? I think there were rumors about Clemons transferring after last season.
From some of the guys on Scout it appears Clemons is gone. I think it had a lot more to do with how he was being used than anything else. If I'm not mistaken Clemons was playing some slot and I don't think that is really the best place for him.
Good luck to him, wherever he may end up.
Clemons was a cousin of Steve Breaston's I thought too.
Clemons was being used as a slot largely because of a lack of depth at the position. From what I heard, he was going to move back outside this year.
Clemons was a cousin of Terrelle Pryor.
...and Steve Breaston.
Bro, you can't have two cousins.
I stand corrected.
who was in the production of the 2009 NFC Conference Championship with Howie Long...who was in Broken Arrow with Christian Slater...who was in Murder in the First with Kevin Bacon
...who was in "Stir of Echoes" with that one chick's broken fingernails...and one time I broke a nail.
Five Degrees of Magnus.
I just created an awesome new game.
He's a guy that I'm sure a lot of us were excited about back when he committed, and I wish him luck. If he's interested in playing time (as opposed to say a Doug Dutch career path, complete with a Michigan degree), he's right to look elsewhere. Hopefully he can go somewhere and continue to develop into the player we all hoped he'd be.
He took plays off, had an attitude problem and really didn't encompass what it takes to be a Michigan man. Good riddens.
Good riddens. Love it. Great phrase, all be it not my favorite. Could of been better.
I use that frays once and a while, too.
That frays could of been more popular if more pre-madonnas used it.
Then it would be ironic, doncha think?
IT'S LIKE RAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost as ironic as meeting the man of my dreams when all I need is a knife.

As per the scout boards he is gone http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=162&f=2019&t=4121261
