Final Collection of Lou Holtz Comments

Submitted by Fresh Meat on

There have been various threads on pieces of this.  Here is a final collection of the days worth.

Pre Game-- Said ND was only game he'd pay to see, best place to see a game in America.  Crist was going to be breakout QB of the week.  Allen was going to be breakout RB of the week.  Seriously, he said all three of those things with a straight face.  He has no awareness of his homerness.

Post Game- He said ND should be proud of the D, because outside of one player they played well.  Does he realize that they still gave up 500 yards?  Does he also realize that on Denard's rushing and passing plays, it wasn't just him?  Yanno, those guys sometimes block for him and those WR's sometimes catch it, and even run after the catch occasionally.  And maybe ND's defense should have done something about those guys blocking for Denard or catching his passes.  But who lets rationality get in the way.

Later Post Game-- On Crists final play that he threw out the back of the end zone, he couldn't help but comment on the great protection by the O-line.  Even though Crist makes one of the worst throws I've ever seen (completely removing ANY chance of a catch to win the game), even though on that play ND lost, he still had to say something about how great ND is in the face of obvious suck.  Mark May pointed out to him that Michigan was rushing 3 vs. 5 blockers, but that doesn't matter to sweet sweet Lou.

I know he's old, but how does ESPN put up with this?  It is insane how each week, each and every single week, he picks ND to be the winner and the breakout player and whatever else.  Not to mention he perennially picks them to win it all at the beginning of the year.  I don't get how ESPN doesn't see how he completely ruins their credibility.  It used to make me laugh, but I'm starting to get mad about it.

I don't know. I kind of find him funny. He's a slabbering old, old man. Cut the guy a break.

If Terelle Pryor ever hosts gameday -- and he's spouting off "everybody kills people, murders people" while incorrectly picking the Bucks every week, I'd enjoy that too.

Now, go enjoy your revelry. Preferably while hammered.

It's kind of sad to me just how despondent he seems. I mean, Dr. Lou isn't razor sharp on his best days, but he was just discombobulated right after the game. The best part is that he has to sit there and listen to it again and again during each ESPN halftime. Rece Davis just went to commercial saying something like, "We'll talk about one guy who wasn't the same between week one and week two, because he was good week one and even better today." Lou sat  there gritting his teeth.

was from I think gameday either last night or this morning where he said ND "is a total mismatch for michigan on both sides of the ball. no contest"

i mean...that's just 110% not true. that's about all you can say. as lou ages, he knows less and less every year. all he knows, is that ND is the best team in the country always and forever

Lou was bad, but the dipshits from NBC were pathetic.  It's like listening to two effeminate lawyers (and ND homers) discuss football at a country club.   Plus, NBC is a shitty network for college football.  It all just seeems like an elaborat advertisement for their Sunday night NFL game.  I tried tuning in Brando & Beckman and muting the sound, but there was seriously a 30 second delay.

Does he also realize that on Denard's rushing and passing plays, it wasn't just him?
It was obvious to those of us who were watching that Denard was fast enough to throw those passes to himself.

It's not like they have some other guy on staff who loves to fall asleep in tanning beds and pick teams from Columbus OH again and again and again and again, right?
