The Team, The Team. Let the unfocused casual fan vote online, individual contrived awards are for the weak.

The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award (The O'Brien) is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award.
The fan vote counts as 5% during each round of voting, and it is combined with the results from the Selection Committee.

Why would we not want to help our players receive recognition? Any positive news about our football team is a good thing. I voted, but I guess that just makes me an unfocused casual fan.

The body of work by Michigan itself over the season wont serve enough notice on its own?? Personally I think straw polls dont matter too much.

Why limit the amount of good press we get, even if you don't personally care about the award?

I'm not sure how many Sophomores have ever won this award (it can't be very many), so Denard even being mentioned is amazing. If he continues to play with this consistency all season then he's going to certainly be in the discussion.
