Is light faster than sound?
September 5th, 2010 at 12:11 AM ^
Denard isn't just faster than Pat White; Denard is faster than electrons.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:34 AM ^
I'm light

if not then damn close. He may not have the flat out speed, but his burst is sick.
And he threw a couple ROCKETS today as well. Fantastic game for Denard.

on the very day Pat White gets cut, Pat White x2 is born.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:03 AM ^
That there is such a thing as "Football Reincarnation"?
September 4th, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
Denard has a 4.32 40-yard dash. Pat White's at the NFL combine was about 4.52 40-yard dash.
September 5th, 2010 at 3:31 AM ^
So Denard is 4.51 in the dash
September 5th, 2010 at 1:40 PM ^
I'm not sure you should take that reported 4.32 time as gospel. It probably was hand-timed. The NFL Combine uses more sophisticated timing equipment.

I can't wait till there are threads like "Is (insert future QB's name) the next Denard Robinson?"
September 5th, 2010 at 12:00 AM ^
I think he is.i don't remember pat white running for that many yards as a so.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:50 AM ^
As a Soph. White had two games that topped Denard's total.
15 carries for 247 yards and 4 TDs against 'Cuse
22 carries for 220 yards and 2 TDs against Pitt
It should also be mentioned that against Pitt he was also 11 of 16 for 204 yards passing with 2 TDs and no picks.
I love Denard, but he has a looooooong way to go before he is mentioned in the same breath as Pat White.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:52 AM ^
I feel you, after all it is only 1 game. I think the fact that Denard looked great and has shown obvious improvement from last season has the Michigan fans excited. He'll have to have games like this more often to be called Pat White but if he does and the defense can improve, Michigan wont be the butt of jokes much longer.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:54 AM ^
I think Denard may end up being a better passer than White, but there is no way in hell he can match White's production as a runner. His numbers are ungodly.
September 5th, 2010 at 3:43 AM ^
On his first start, Denard clocked in a running performance that would be good for #3 in Pat White's college carreer (going by your numbers above.) I'd hardly say "there is no way in hell he can match White's production as a runner." Chances are still against it, agreed, but I'd say he certainly has a shot - not only to match white but potentially even exceed. (Incidentally, if he does end up being a better passer that would probably hurt Denard's total running production, but should help his running efficiency.)
September 5th, 2010 at 9:53 AM ^
I agree that Denard has a possibility to come close to White's rushing yards but lets be real; Big Ten defenses are tougher than the Big East defenses Pat White use to shred.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:03 AM ^
I've seen some amazing QB performances at the Big House, or in college football in general. From players like McNabb, Dixon, Juice Williams (he always played great against UM), Vince Young, etc, DRob could easily be placed firmly in that category, and todays performance was just as good as any I have seen from those QB's. If this continues and improves more, which it should, Pat White may no longer be the QB people associate RichRod's offense with.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:08 AM ^
uh ya...silly question
September 5th, 2010 at 12:12 AM ^
Just watch him cover ground and there is no doubt that Denard is very clearly faster and it's not that close..he is still quite raw though..which is actually excellent news. In two years Denard could be an unmatched/unprecedented college QB. This isn't Fred Jackson hyperbole either. I watched every move this kid made today and he has limitless potential. His passing could become like Troy Smith and his running abilty is WAAAAAAAY better than Troy which is really saying something astounding. With his competitive and relentlessly self-improving nature he could get scary good. He just needs an elite RB so Dee Hart...come on down! Go Blue!!!
September 5th, 2010 at 12:16 AM ^
As someone who has followed RR long before he came to Michigan, and consequently watched Pat White at WVU a lot, there is no doubt about it. It's not even close.

...but White can knock people over better than Denard. I think that when DG gets rolling, he will remind people of White a lot more than Denard does. Denard is starting to look like a Barry Sanders who can play QB.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:52 AM ^
Is Denard faster than lightning
September 5th, 2010 at 2:30 AM ^
Pat White, McNabb, Dixon, Juice, Vince Young, and Barry Sanders...
Wow, I mean, he looked good, but... well... let's just toast our Kool-Aid glasses to that with Coach Jackson. YAWN. Someone wake me when we get black John Elway or Tom Harmon

of speed. He is pure delight.
Opposing teams are delusional if they think they are going to catch him.
September 5th, 2010 at 11:23 AM ^
He's not Pat White. He's not a genetic clone of Pat White. Like every other person on the planet, he's truly unique, literally one-of-a-kind.That's not a criticism, nor a comment on his prospects for success. How 'bout we just sit back and enjoy Denard Robinson for what he can do without comparing him to somebody else every five minutes?
September 5th, 2010 at 2:01 PM ^
Identifcal twins are genetic clones.
September 5th, 2010 at 1:06 PM ^
Once Denard can execute the zone read decision making process with the consistency of Pat White, all will be good.
