OT: Best way to get a block of tickets (6-8 for SMU on 9/15)?
My family and are are looking to make our first 3-generational football trip with my boys for the SMU game. I remember those with my parents and grandparents when I was a kid, and am excited to take my little guys (4 & 6) to the Big House!
Does anyone have tips or tricks for getting a decent block of 6-8 tickets for a game? I know that single game tickets go onsale in June and, at least theoretically, larger blocks might be available. We don't need great seats, but I do hope to end up on the west side where we might get some shade if it's a 3:30 game. It will be a bit of a stretch for our 4yo, so I'l trying to keep it as comfortable as possible for him.
While I'm dreaming, anyone know of someone with a skybox with extra tickets? While I love being out in the stadium, that would be the ideal for my young ones. Probably no chance, but a guy can dream, right?

My family of 4 will also attend. Would you consider increasing your 6-8 ticket allotment to 10-12?!
I'm interested in this same topic since we will be meeting at least 2-3 other groups for the SMU game. My assumption is that it's near impossible to obtain larger contiguous ticket chunks, so I'm mentally prepared for our group to tailgate together before and after the game, then split our separate ways during the game.
Try to get your tickets in the same section and then trade "up" with somebody sitting nearby. For instance if have tickets in Section 27 and four are in row 40 and four are in row 65, ask the people around you in row 65 if they would like to move down to some better seats. I say trade "up" because chances are pretty good somebody will switch for better seats but not worse.
I did this last year and had no problems doing so.
I'll check in with the ticket office to see what the story is with group tickets. That might be a possibility to let us have tickets in-hand before the game.
Once our numbers are more set and we know what's going on, I'll let you know.
If you want to leave your email --at-- address.com here I'll check in with you as things go along.

SMU is probably our least desired home game, I don't think you'll have a problem finding tickets online (stubhub, seatgeek, etc). The tricky part is definitely getting them all together, but I did a quick search on stubhub and found a bunch of sets of 6. I would wait until people receive their tickets, as you will probably have more options and lower prices.
Thanks!
I'm hoping that you're prediction is correct. It's part of the reason we chose that date. SMU worked in our schedule, and ironically is probably the most desirable game for us. My boys don't want what we'd consider a good game. They want as much of a blowout with as little tension as possible!
It's been a few years since we had season tickets. When do they get sent out?
RobbyT is right. SMU should have lots of tickets availabe. I've had good luck with Craigslist in the past as well as canvasing friends over time.
I took my kids to a couple of games two years ago. For the Indiana game I left my tickets 6 hours away and had to go to guest services before the game to get them re-printed.
My understanding, from other people at the counter, is that you can buy tickets there that other people have turned in or that didn't sold. If it is a 3:30 game, and you're not risk adverse, I'd park at the Golf Course early and go over to the guest services right when it opens. If they don't have anything, put up a sign by your tail gate or stand with your hands in the air. 6-8 is a lot, but you can get tickets cheap before the game.
I have 8 for the SMU game. Our group has a wedding. email me at mporter2183 @ gmail
The old quadruple post... maybe I should play the lottery
