"No new leaks from our side either which is strange since I thought we were going scorched earth."

I wasn't necessarily expecting a huge dump immediately this week, but I was expecting something. For as angry as everyone is reported to me, it makes me wonder how much we actually have that would be impactful to reveal.

Didn't catch that... What…

Not worse than my 4 year old telling me yesterday he should get an Ohio State shirt to wear so that he can root from them in all of the games they play, except maybe Michigan.

He's at that developmental stage where handling losing is difficult... Now that I think of it, many of us here are still in that stage.

The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security offers a Child and At-Risk Adult ID Wristband Program during large-scale events held at Michigan Stadium. Important information, such as a contact number and seat location, can be written on the wristband. This program helps security and law enforcement personnel to reunite a loved one if they become separated from their parent or guardian. Wristbands are available at gates 1, 2, 4, 8 & 9.

We'll be there with my 4 & 6yo boys... My parents will be there too, so we have a 2:1 adult:kid ratio.  I expect they won't be in their seats the whole time, and if we leave early (or some of us leave early) we're okay with that.

Want to do it while everyone's healthy and we still can... Hopefully that will be the case for many years to come, but why wait?

Some coaches managed...

Maryland played 4+ QB's last year, including their 5' 8" walk-on Air Force transfer who started against us.

They threw 15, including 10 from Bortenschlager, who was their 3rd string when the season began.

Edit:  Got it, finally.  247 ranking vs 247 composite, right?  I generally only think of the composite.

The overall ranking list says "Last updated on 05/23/18 at 10:40 AM CST" and doesn't list him at #12?

Apoligies if I'm missing something.  I see Karalaftis as the #12 SDE and #153 overall...

Thanks!

So is that 8, or 32?

Seriously though, thanks for the message. I'll email now!

Could work!

I'll check in with the ticket office to see what the story is with group tickets.  That might be a possibility to let us have tickets in-hand before the game.

Once our numbers are more set and we know what's going on, I'll let you know.

If you want to leave your  email --at-- address.com  here I'll check in with you as things go along.

Go Blue!

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'm hoping that you're prediction is correct. It's part of the reason we chose that date. SMU worked in our schedule, and ironically is probably the most desirable game for us.  My boys don't want what we'd consider a good game.  They want as much of a blowout with as little tension as possible!

It's been a few years since we had season tickets.  When do they get sent out?

Thanks!

...All kidding aside, I appreciate the info!  They're 3 & 6, but I'll definitely have it on the list to watch when they're a bit older.

Ah, yes. Willis Ward and the

Ah, yes. Willis Ward and the infamous 1930s Georgia Tech incident.  My boys and I discuss it weekly...

What was that again?!?  :-)

Woods a starter?

Thanks for the updates!

My questions:

Woods started the bowl game... So technically a returning starter?

Was Mone a starter, or just in the rotation?

Nit picking

Since you busted my chops on accuracy, I'll point out that a move from 8th to 4th (which happens with the addition of Patterson & Anderson & the removal of everyone else) is "literally" 4 places, not one or two as you asserted.  As I mentioned in a reply to one of your other numerous posts here, I thought that amount of movement was relevant.  If you and others do not, it doesn't hurt anyone.

Again, I don't disagree with anyone who says they aren't interest in this concept. Adding volumes of comments saying basically the same thing just makes the board a less friendly (and user friendly) place to be.

Staying classy.

Not trying to pick a fight, but I'd say there is a difference between politely disagreeing, and posting 4 (now 5) different times with some variation of the same idea.

I think we all get it.  This is not heavy insight that is of any direct relevance to on-field production.  It is still a topic of interest to some.  If the thread weren't cluttered with a bunch of folks trying to tell others what is or is not relevant/interesting, perhaps it wouldn't be so annoying & tedious to review.

Personally, I was curious to

Personally, I was curious to know how things changed in the rankings, whether it was a little or a lot.

I would also suggest that (theoretical) a move of four places from 8th to ~4th would represent a a much bigger deal than a move of four places from something like 25th to 21st.  Again, if that concept isn't of interest, no worries.

It seems that many feel strongly enought about the topic (at least in concept, if not content) to comment (in some cases multiple times.)  I in no way disagree with folks who say "so what?" as it relates to next season.  It's a quick little exercise which was of interst to some.

Good point.

Will update the post now.

Agreed

I totally agree.  Just like looking at this year's ranking isn't going to win us any games. People still do it, for whatever reason(s) they find it interesting.

I have noticed previous discussions on the average recruiting ranking for playoff teams, etc. which is what got me thinking about it.  I in no way meant to imply this would somehow mean anything specific on the field, just playing around with what the class as a whole "looks like" with this updated iteration.

Competition

Sam Webb & Ira Weintraub made a good point recently that with Georgia back, Miami back, Clemson a notch better, etc. the competition for recruits in the region is much different than it was when FSU recently won the national title.  Combine an increased level of difficulty for success with the other frustrations and it seems more understandable, at least to me.

I wonder if once they're on real people the M will be more on the side and the jumpman more in the front, making their proximity (and apparent misaligmnent) less?

Thanks

I thought I'd heard that report/rumor, but wan't sure.  Thanks for the info.

PSU Night Game?

I was just searching for this recently... Has any more come of the rumor that Penn State might be a night game?  If it is a night game, I can probably go and would plan on it.  Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to a day game.

I gave up too... Not worth the headache to find out a bunch of info we already know (based on the content of the little I read)

Getting to the Playoffs

At this point the odds seem to be weighted much more on the liklihood to get to the 4-team playoff.  If you are willing to assume that any SEC west team has a higher likihood of a conference loss than OSU, then OSU is much more likely to get to the playoff, thus a much higher chance of winning it.

I'm not saying that I think OSU should or should not be the favorite, but the choices aren't OSU or the SEC west champ, its OSU vs each specific SEC west team who may or may not even make the playoff.

Sorry if already asked...

How is the number of Early Enrolee slots determined?  How many will there be next year?  Is it as many as you can back-date?  As many 5-years leaving after the fall semester?

Outliers?

This is pretty cool to check out.  One question:  How did you decide which were outliers?

Kingston Davis, for example, has readings of : 2.75  -  3.0  -  3.25  -  3.5    I'm not sure why the 2.75 is more of an outlier than the 3.5.

Same with Nate Johnson.  Two 3.25s, a 2.75 (only .5 below those two) and a 4.0 (.75 above those two.)  It would seem that if there is an outlier there, it is the 4.0, not the 2.75.  (The 4.0 is 0.69 above the average. The 2.75 is 0.56 below.)

Perhaps this all has something to do with you standardization formula which shifted those ratings a bit.  Regardless, thanks for all of the effort!

Not a bank, but...

Maybe not a "bank" but scholarships left after signing day could be used on a grad transfer (LB, QB?)

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Hoke wanted King, but there were academic issues?  ...I'm not sure if Iowa took him or Michigan couldn't take him.

Stay tuned around 7:30pm EST. We'll be releasing something I believe just about every Michigan recruiting fan with thoroughly enjoy.

I can't spoil it but I will say:

-Yes, it's about recruiting

-No, it's not a commitment post

DaiShon Neal

Daishon Neal is the kid who's family basically made up some bullsh!t about Mattison last year, so that would be the most likely bet.

I seem to remember Sam Webb with a quote which was something to the effect of "His high school coach can't really come out and say that the kid and/or his dad is an @sshole, but he is"  (That wasn't really the quote, but the sentiment was similar.)

...Found Webb's info summarized HERE.  "I was told by [Neal's high school coach] that the other side of this entire story is an utter fabrication. In the meeting yesterday afternoon was the kid, the uncle, and the dad. The part about academics was completely misrepresented. Apparently Mattison talked about how kids with 4.0s and high test scores get turned away from Michigan all the time. He did that to highlight how academically prestigious the school is and lead into what a special opportunity to he had in front of him. The whole "Mattison got thrown out of the house" comment is fiction too. The kid walked Mattison to his car and talked about how high he was on Michigan. Suffice it to say Michigan thought it was most likely going to get the kid afterward. That the visit was twisted the way it was came as a complete shock."

No PSU

The assumption (which has been floated out there already) is that PSU is out and they are aware of that.

He's still a heavy, heavy M lean, but not formally decided/declared at this point.

Who's argument?

I have never stated, opined, asserted, or speculated that Swenson knew all along.  I simply pointed out that it could be a possibility and also that numerous assumptions are being made (positve and/or negative) to fill in the huge information gaps at this point.

I'll also point out that your response to what you asserted was my logic/argument is based on yet another assumption (that I believed to be true the hypotheticals I mentioned as an alternate possibility.)  While I have no way to know if your assumptions about Swenson are incorrect, I can comfortably say that those you made about me are off base.

More info

That would certainly appears to be a mark in the "learned more recently" column.

To give a hypothetical in the other column, he might have been told previously that this was a possiblity only if things really picked up with a number of top recruits, as has happened in the last few weeks.

I'm not saying you're wrong & I'm definitely not saying I'm right (particuarly as I don't have an opinion/assumption on what happened here.)

Wait how long?

I missed where it was reported that Swenson just learned of this recently, along with the rest of the public.

Unrealistic?

I'm not so sure what would be unrealistic about a 4* athlete choosing to go to a school where the coaches expected he would play rather than one where the coaches (hypothetically) said they expect he would not.

Again, I am not saying that he was not pushed out, but it isn't like Michigan is the only place an athlete get a good eduaction and play high-level football.  Perhaps it was his choice to look for an option where he could do both after he was told by the staff that they felt PT was highly unlikely for him at UofM.

None of us know what has happened.  I'm not sure that either assumption is more or less realistic at this point.

Edit: Yes -- what Leaders And Best said.

Exactly.

You hit the nail on the head.

The big problem here is that *we* are just now hearing about this.  Clearly if there was some change in Swenson's status that occured more than a week or so ago, all of us should and would have been notified.

Because we didn't know before, this must be new information to Swensen as well.
