HELP WANTED! I'm moving to Chicago for school and I need good haunts to watch football/basketball games. Recommendations?

Hey guys! I'm a long time lurker who needs some help. I'm moving to downtown Chicago for school in the fall, and i need somewhere to watch UM football/basketball/hockey. Looking for a known MgoBlogger haunt, or maybe just a michigan bar. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Also moving to Chicago in a few weeks but I'll be in the South Loop. All of the "official" bars are north or far north. West End is, pretty far west as well. Is there anywhere popular for UM fans on the southside?

Honestly, I've done all of the Chicago haunts for games. I figured out pretty quick it's far cheaper and better to just get cable and buy some beers on your own instead of dealing with the hassle of going to the Michigan bars. You end up ahead. Especially if basketball is in the mix.

it's also cheaper to cook at home instead of going to a restaurant

it's always cheaper to watch a movie on netflix than going to a movie theater

it's always cheaper to watch a cub game on tv than going to wrigley

it's always cheaper to listen to the radio than seeing a live concert............

I live in between Diag and Duffy's and close to Matilda's. As most of the posters have mentioned Duffy's is really for the under 25 crowd and isn't affiliated with the Alumni Association. I do like the Diag, but on football game days you probably have to get there a couple hours early to get a seat - even more if it's a big game. Matilda's has been my go to because I can usually get a seat/table and they give away free stuff from Michigan brewers from time to time (I have some Bell's and Founder's glasses/koozies).

I went to West End a couple of times during the NCAA tournament this year and it was pretty good, but the last time I went during football season they chose to have the sound on for a Blackhawks game instead of for the Michigan game (it's been a couple years) and I haven't gone back for a football game since.

I've been to Rockit in River North for a number of games and that's pretty fun since the whole second floor is used for Michigan games. It's currently closed for renovations but I think it will be ready by football season. The Wrigleyville location is good too, but not as big.
