OT: NCAA finds 8 violations at UConn
Um, yeah....I think the title pretty much covers it.
And how inaccurate the media can be, I have no idea how to react to any of this.
Everyone kills, murders, steals from you, steals from me
Not surprised. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the NCAA continues to find more violations for a while.
Yet another nice job by Yahoo! Sports.
Between this expose and the one with USC, Yahoo! might as well just be hired by the NCAA Rules committee to investigate everyone.
Sounds like a Jamal Crawford situation to me but on top of the weird relationship between an agent and an amateur athlete, the school also exploited the relationship to commit recruiting violations. Allegedly.
The agent was a former manager for the team.
in case we haven't had our fill of NCAA documents

Not a shot at the OP or anything, but I am really getting sick of NCAA violations talk. Wake me up when they get around to USC.
You and Tedsicle.
1. College basketball is an ugly, ugly business. Expect HBO to develop a post-Sopranos series featuring Paulie Walnuts, wherein he becomes more than "mildly interested" in the sport and March Madness.
2. The NCAA is taking a good long while to issue its findings in the USC case, but I am not surprised in the least. If they're laying the hammer down, this is one of those situations where the Infractions Committee is making damn sure everyone has signed off - and has closed ranks - before releasing the report.
FIRE RICH ROD NOW! UCONN'S LEGACY IS TAINTED FOREVER!!!!!
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. That and growling like Roy Orbison.
What momma doesn’t know won’t hurt her.
Better them than us...
Oh wait...
Fuck
is far worse than what happened at UM. UM talks about compliance documents and stretching, while that asshole Calhoun (who I think knew what the hell was going on) was breaking rules in order to get recruits. That's a huge difference.
Also, I went to the UM-UConn game at Crisler this year. Calhoun was an asswipe from the moment he stepped onto the floor. I am finally glad to see him get his "black eye" vs. UM getting a "bruise."
... UConn isn't broken, the system is broken. I venture to guess that 50% of the top programs have the same issues.
I'm sure the media will treat Calhoun with kids gloves because of his recent cancer struggles and the fact he is a "winner", but the guy has been a jerk at UConn for most of his tenure, and I doubt this is the first time he has so flippantly disregarded recruiting rules.
Total black eye.
It would be even better if at least ten schools had major violations uncovered this year. It would certainly take a lot of the heat off of Michigan, and deservedly so.
Uconn
Oaklahoma BBall (again, on probation already)
USC Hoops
USC Football
Kansas Scalping Scandal
we're at least half way there
John Calipari
Those are just the already announced violations that I've heard about... i'm sure there are TONS more in the dirty dirty dirt sandwich with extra dirt that is college hoops, hopefully some of them will see the light of day
We're at least livin' on a prayer.
USC should almost be left out of all postseason play in the two major sports for a decade. I still can't believe nothing's happened in regard to discipline with their university yet.
If they want to crack down on violations in college basketball recruiting I wish the NCAA good luck.
