I would think for an "independent" investigation you would grab someone from another region of the country with zero ties to the school. oh well...

The connection between Secchia and Meijer with Forsyth has more to do with the fact that they're all Republicans from Kent County and little to do with MSU. I don't think Meijer or Forsyth have any strong connection to MSU. I don't think you'll find a better prosecutor than Bill Forsyth.

The "retirement party" was actually a fundraising event for a crime tip line at which Forsyth was honored. All funds went to solving crimes. .... just not those which may have occurred in EL

We all now that Bill Schuette the current Michigan AG is going to be running for Governor. that he gave a big speech about being tough on MSU and not listening to their Trustees.
It seemed a little over the top to me, and got me thinking.
Schuette is not from Michigan and theoretically has no dog in the race. Many have thought that he would use this as a platform to be "tough on crime" or wrongdoing and therefore really dig in and give MSU what they have coming. Then were learn of this appointment. That made me start to think more.
What if the political move, the one that raises more money through the back door and/or ultimately gets you elected is to woo the wealthy Sparty donors, like Secchia with the promise that you will actually exhonerate MSU, brining in funds to the campaign, important political connections, and ultimate votes from the throngs of MSU fans who live in the stae and don't otherwise like or truse an outsider.
You could weigh that against the national backlash of being a patsy, but it could actually go eithe rway the appointment of Forsyth has me wondering if this isn't an extension of the cover up and exonerattion. hmmm...
