Wild nick saban in a national championship game pulled a starting qb with a 25-2 record for a freshman who barely played and yet we kept JOK in for the entire MSU game...

Great point actually. Saban is not afraid of changing things, whether it’s offensive schemes or players, in order to get the job done. To that point, Harbaugh showed the same change in SF with Kapernick and Alex Smith.

This two teams are close. The difference is depth and conditioning. You can see Georgia is still a step behind Bama in that regard. Michigan’s strength and conditioning is no where near these four playoff team plus osu. We have a long way to go with recruit and player development.

Funny thing is though, I had a guy tell me that s&c coaches don't really make an impact. Lolz S&c coach is one of the most important hire that a big time program makes.

i told my colleauges (all michigan fans, one of them is high school football coach) that michigan is gased in the middle of the season (probably after MSU game), they jsut laughed at me. I'v see the same pattern last year. I didn't notice this the first year though. Now when we talk about S and C, they just shut up. LOL

I hate to say this, but the coaching of Bama specifically - when it mattered - just seems like it’s on a different level. Nobody benches Hurts in that situation...except Saban.

I'm not going to compare UM's roster to these two because they are playing by different rules. Bama is a legit semi-pro team and players are compensated in various fashions. UM will always be working uphill against these programs.

the reality is virtually any 5-star and most 4-stars would rather go to Bama or half of the SEC than come up to Michigan.  Bama = nat'l Championships and the NFL.  SEC is warmer weather, no school and bagmen.

MIchigan is "do it the right way and tradition . . ."  That doesn't win championships in this day and age.  The only way to win in this $$$ era is an absolute commitment to win at all costs.

Hell, we haven't come close to winning our division much less the confernece or the frickin' playoffs.

We can't even decide on an OC or a game plan.  Bama can win with Helen Keller as OC

a GA team that hasn't been relevant in decades blows a big lead vs a perennial winner that everyone hates. Deja vu for Falcons and Bulldogs in a one year span.

Still can't wrap my head around the fact that a true freshman who never plays can make that presnap read, look off the safety and throw a 40yrd rope in the highest pressure situation that exists.

Im sitting here and thinking of all permutations of when M can be Bama level. Unfortunately, not coming up with any solution to that end. Bama's depth is insane and their freshman QB just threw a 40 yard bomb in OT against tough georgia D.

Last time that happened was may be Speight pass in OT to Darboh (pressure situation but shorter pass). I mean I can't remember a long bomb like that since forever.

What a depressing game, mostly for QB position. None of our QBs looked like this all year. Hard to believe none were even half competent and I'd have to think scheme may be a culprit.

Grabbing straws. Searching for answers.

but that was some pretty football. Those big throws by the freshman, fantastic oline and dline play, and some ballsy playcalls by Saban. Even ESPN upped their game for the last few drives and overtime, with minimal commercial interruption. And no annoying replay bs to wreck the flow. Exciting, imaginative playcalling executed well...exactly the opposite of everything our offense was this year.

Saban certainly makes some gutsy calls. Benching Hurts and that onside kick a few years ago against Clemson.

After watching this game, time to turn the page on an awful 2017 campaign and focus on 18. I realize now 100% to compete at this level we need a QB with the "IT" factor. Only way we compete. QB's can make up for a few deficiencies, which we will probably have against great teams with all 5-stars. My question, when do we find out if Patterson is eligible to play this fall? Most important outcome of our offseason!!

I posted about this after Wisconsin and about half the board called me a whiner. Bottom line is that our two best QBs were knocked out by late or excessive hits to the head and neck area and not a single flag thrown.

Anyone still excusing the complete incompetence of our offense this year needs to review that game.

I don't expect us to be bama or georgia or anything like that, not with our level of recruiting. But to watch them flail around incompetently like they did this year has got to be throwing up some serious red flags about the abilities of this staff.

I guess thinking further the silver lining is that even this year's OSU seemed a far cry from these teams.

Anyways. Hope 2018 brings a renaissance in Michigan offense. Good night.

Warde needs to approve an open checkbook for an offensive staff. Jim needs to cut ties with old friends. We have the talent to win the conference next year. Heads out of the asses, pocket books open, and see the results flourish

Be bitching about the refs if we had list the NC game after that debacle? This site would be shut down for a month!

The game? GA QB runs for yardage, gets tackled, after whistle Alabama player stands over him and literally pushes his head down in a clear unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. No call made. GA forced to pooch punt short while later.

I grew up in Alabama for the most part. All of my friends have seen multiple titles for their team and I’m was too young to remember Michigan’s. Jim needs square this offense away and get shit going. I’m getting far too old! (I’m 24 and drunk let me vent dammit!)
