Aren't We Where We Should Be?

Like, this Sucks... No question. But before the season we thought we'd be 8-4 to 10-2. That's were we all thought we'd be. In his 3rd year at Stanford, JH was 8-4. We have shit freshman receivers, a second string qb, but, did we really think we would be better than this?

And throwing out the excuses about youth, what we lost, etc. How is an MSU team that was 3-9 last year and lost several contributors with the off the field stuff, 6-1 and undefeated in Big Ten play? Yes I know they were given the game  against UM, and were given gifts by the officials today against IU, but my point is coaching can make up for  lack of experience and talent. I think Harbaugh is still the guy to take this team where they want to go long term, but I am sorry to act like UM shouldn't be competing with everybody on the schedule in terms of not getting embarrassed, come on.

I still believe Harbaugh is the guy as well. Not sure who else Michigan could get that even gives them the hope of being a contender. I do believe this is one of Harbaugh’s worst years as a coach (regardless of record) based on the program, year and expectations. I also believe hiring Pep looks like a giant mistake. I think this offense has too many cooks in the kitchen and no identity. That all falls on Harbaugh.

This loss sucked, but I think this is about where we expected we would be. I do think some drastic changes are necessary on offense, but I'm confident that Harbaugh will make them.

Everybody take a deep breath. Everything will be all right. The man has a track record.

Urban took over a 6-7 OSU team and went 12-0 in his first season. Its not hate to say Urban is superior to Harbaugh. The numbers speak for themselves. Will Harbaugh beat Urban offcourse he will but that doesnt change the fact that OSU got the better hire

Urban is probably the 2nd best coach in college football. His incredible record and accolades speak for themselves. Harbaugh is good, but he isn't top 5 in the nation. The way it looks now, there's no concrete evidence that he's top 5 in the conference.

The continual comparisons of Harbaugh's progression here to his progression at Stanford are continually dumb. He didnt take over a 1-win team here. Michigan, when Harbaugh took over, wasnt Stanford when Harbaugh took over. Harbaugh turned Stanford into what it is today, on par with Michigan. It wasnt back then. He started at a higher level with Michigan, with better talent, recruiting, and way more money to spend on staff.

The issue is that the same progression, from different starting points, with different tools, different recruiting cache, and different money, doesnt seems to be happening here. Harbaugh is the best Michigan will get. But will he be good enough? The outlook is not as bright as it once was.

Michigan will be like Michigan under Bo (Remember, Bo's bowl record was atrocious). It will have the occassional success but the program will end up never reaching its full potential under a very good coach. But hey man, that's just my opinion.

after PSU. The players are fine. That last night was a simple scheme issue. I love Don Brown, but a a saftey can not cover a teams best WR and McCray can not be in pass coverage with the best player on the field. They exploited match-ups with formations and motions and UM did not adjust.

The UM offense has been a bit of an issue before Speight went down.  The OL going into the season was a bit of a liability and tonite it got exposed.  To expect an offense to match score for score with a less than elite OL and a backup QB is an unrealistic expectation.

The defense faced a top-shelf offense and it got exposed.  Prior to this game who had they faced that was a top quartile offense?  As of today, PSU is #16 in the nation in scoring offense.  Prior to that, the UM defense had not faced a balanced offense (Airforce cant pass the ball so meh) who was ranked in the top 50... IU coming in at #88 was the next best offense the UM defense had faced.

PSU played its A+ game at home, at night.  If that happened then realistically UM had no shot at beating PSU.

Personally, I think PSU is going to be running into a buzz saw in Columbus.... but I guess we'll see about that next weekend.

How is next year going to be better? Losing your best defensive tackle and having to play @ND, @OSU, @MSU, Wisconsin, & Penn State. Looking at a potential rivals record of 2-7 or 1-8 by the end of 2018, as OSU and ND are vastly superior teams and somehow Dantonio has his team winning games even though they were 3-9 last year and lost a lot of talent over the summer.

As much as I’d like to drown Paul Finebaum in a bucket of my own urine, I’m starting to agree with him on the whole “Michigan fans are the most annoying”. I’m a Michigan fan and I can actually see where he’s coming from. First off, not a single analyst said we would do better than 9 wins, most said 8. Now we are on track to do exactly what the experts said, and some of you idiots are acting like this is a big shocker. Like you are totally surprised that we have lost games. Pre season did you really think this team would beat the number #2 in the country. Stop with the nonsense. Second of all, harbaugh only has two recruiting classes. You can’t count his first year when he was hired in December. Recruiting is dam near over in December and that’s when he got started. So his juniors are from a small class that was ranked somewhere in the 30’s or 40’s. There is a reason why most of the guys on the field are freshman and sophmores, because the rest of the upperclassman suck. Ever wonder why a big ol receiver like Moe Ways doesn’t see the field and true freshman receivers and preferred walked on receivers do? Because he sucks. Look at the cycles of recruiting to figure out why everyone said no better than 9 wins. Harbaugh has yet to play with a quarterback he recruited. Windsor writes piece this morning about harbaugh being no a deity and not worth $9 mil? Give me break man, horse $hit, he’s worth every penny of that $9Mil. Everyone needs to chill. If you think Michigan should win every game right now, you are either unrealistic, uneducated or arrogant. It’s a real bad look from fans right now.

MSU and OSU and 6-5 in our last 11 games speaks volumes of the way the rebuild is going. No one is calling for Harbaughs job, but somethings need to change. Mainly the offensive coaching staff. Why is Harbaughs QB recruits not starting. Freshmen QBs start all the time. Redshirt freshmen even more often. Your logic is flawed to just except being average.
