Simple Stats on How Bad Our OL is
Exactly how bad is our OL? I think these two stats tell everything we need to know.
We have played 5 opponents. If we calculate their average tackle for loss and average sack per game (sans the Michigan game) and add them together, you get 25.8 for TFL and 6.25 sacks. This is what our opponents have done when they were not playing Michigan.
If you add up TFL and Sacks for the games that they played Michigan, you get 38 for TFL and 16 for sacks. Simply put, our opponents (defense) registered 50% more TFL than average and almost 3X number of sacks than average against our OL.
That is a tire-fire level badness. You don't need to look any further on why our offense is so bad.
P.S. There was a question about this stat not being tempo-free. I went back and checked and our opponents faced about 15% (at the most) more offensive plays than their average against Michigan. So adjust above numbers down by about 15%. It still does not explain that our opponents are registering 35% more TFL and 2.5X more sacks than against other opponents.

This offensive staff is really underperforming

Jesus Christ, man.
Yes. And?
We brought in Frey last fucking year for a reason. It is being addressed.
Go damnit I hate you all so much.

I'd hate to see what things would look like if it were NOT "being addressed"!

Hey, I hear the former Miami Dolphins O-line coach is available if you want to make a switch. Although I don't think that was the kind of Coke promotion Dave Brandon had in mind.

I would draw the (white) line at hiring him.

Is there a step two or do you just continue getting your ass handed to you?

And others have mentioned upthread that our TEs aren't very good blockers right now, either.
At the same time, Drevno is getting roasted for his insufficiencies as an OL coach as well as for his OC duties.
The odd thing is that the coach of the tackles—including Nolan Ulizio—and TEs isn't Drevno—it's Frey. Why is Drevno getting all of the criticism for OL coaching while Frey isn't?
And no, I don't think either one should be fired, but neither is immune from criticism, either.

You can do this with every position group. They are all horrid. Someone broke down how awful our receivers have been outside of Perry. Im sure you could do a similar breakdown of our running backs and our QB play is self evident
Entire offense should be scraped.

I guess this explains why they've averaged under 2.5 ypc across Harbaugh's 7 losses. You aren't going to win many games when you run for 2.5 ypc.

Steve Everitt for a special training session. I think the OL lacks guts basically (and talent of course)
Watch tape on Jansen or Everitt... both had guts up the rear end.

In offensive lineman speak I believe "guts" is known as a "mean streak".
