I'm definitely not a lawyer and don't really think about it much

is the NFL told him not to destroy evidence and apparently he did anyway. This isn't just for the domestic violence incident. He also pulled down a woman's top in public exposing her, got ticketed for 100 in a 70, the bar fight incident (not sure if he ended up getting charged or not), and visiting the pot store in Seattle. Continued instances of poor judgement is going to be a concern when you have a personal conduct clause in your contract.

Well the ESPN article specifically states that the woman's top incident and the bar incident were not considered in this. This was related to the DV accusation alone. But, whatever fits your narrative.

The players agreed to give the NFL the right to suspend players more or less arbitrarily in the collective bargaining agreement. So this is yet another way in which the NFL players' union is terrible at its job.
That said, I think it makes some degree of sense to allow the NFL to suspend players for violent incidents even without a legal conviction. The legal standard of proof for criminal convictions is "beyond a reasonable doubt," so there are going to be a number of cases where it's pretty clear that something sketchy happened, but not clear enough to secure a conviction in court (e.g., the Roethlisberger stuff a few years ago).

Continues to be a complete joke of a league.

It looks like the NFL thinks domestic violence is only slightly worse than adjusting a football's air pressure.6

I imagine this is what would happen if Michigan fans collectively crowd funded an effort to purchase an NFL football team and all GM decisions were made by vote proportional to the amount you contributed to the crowdfunding campaign.
Our team would not be good.

I guess I have not followed this closely enough, but is there a link or file somewhere containing a police report?

Young men learn a lot about personal responsibility when they're in college. Or, if they can get away with anything, they don't.

Kind of like a young man who just got convicted of a felony with a probation and immediately reinstated after said conviction?

Playing grabass outside a bar isn't nothing, but it's not as bad as half the shit that happened in Gainesville under Meyer.

I'm just glad to see something bad happen to the Cowboys, especially after that smug asshole Jerry Jones gloated about how he was confident nothing would come of this during the first preseason game.
