Sad to see Burke's career trending this way. It's not good. Stauskas is playing on a bad team but he seems to show flashes of putting things together.
Levert could wind up being the best pro on that title run team, which is not something I would have expected. We'll see. THJ is in pole position right now.
Really bummed about McGary as well. Is Mitch done with basketball? Such a talented kid.
This is random, but how did you get 20M Mgopoints? Can you cash them in for swag? Mind blown.
Stauskas is frustrating to watch. He flashes the ability to be a starter or solid bench player, but he is so damn inconsistent.
when Dumars passed up Burke for some dude from Georgia I had never heard of. KCP has turned out pretty decent. I know it's easy to bag on Dumars, but his draft record for a stretch was really good.
In a 4 year stretch he picked
-Greg Monroe
-Brandon Knight
-Khris Middleton
-Drummond
-KCP.
Now on the other side of things, he stupidly traded Middleton AND Knight for Brandon Jennings. You win some, you lose some.
Nearly all of the stars in the NBA today were not hearlded recruits or superstars in the making when they were drafted. A few examples:
- Russell Westbrook had to beg to get on UCLA, busted his ass, still busts his ass and is a triple-double machine.
- James Harden was some quirky guy who went to Arizona State, busted his ass and got drafted 3rd. Still busts his ass and is a bonafide MVP candidate
- Isaiah Thomas is 5'9". Five freaking Nine! He was drafted 60th overall... See above re: work ethic.
- Stephen Curry. Went to Davidson, busted his ass, but was just a shooter and a compliment to Klay Thompson... His work ethic is legendary and he'll end up as the best 3-pt shooter ever as well as a top two ball handler (Kyrie).
- Jimmy Butler. A defense-only guy from Marquette, drafted 30th overall is now the team leader for the Bulls.
- Kawhi Leonard. Another "defense" guy from San Diego State. The leader of the best franchise since the 60s Celtics.
There are many more. THJ and CR3 are doing great and their growth this season is something to be proud of. Both have the skills and the pedigree and it looks like their hard work is beginning to pay off.
